Default How close was Garfield to the Comics?

Share your views.

Was he accurate?

What parts did he take?

Was changing the character to fit high school student in more recent years good? Is Spider-Man too standard for an updated take? Or is their an updated take cartoons succeeded at displaying, and this film failed at doing so?

Any further comments?

I thought he was actually pretty close to the comics more so than Toby Maguire, Garfield managed to show Peters humor and personality a lot more than Toby ever did.

He was fantastic as both, but I also think a couple of writing choices perhaps distracted from his ability to nail the character. Lots of overly-emotional scenes, and not enough reinforcement of Peter's honesty and conviction.

He needed to develop into a more classic hero, but we won't get to see that happen now... Too bad.

Damn, I thought this was gonna be a debate over how faithful was Garfield: The Movie to the comics.
