See above...you're looking for something that wasn't the movie's prerogative.

Missed according to whom?

I've already listed and discussed some things. And I don't have to judge anything, you've laid it out for us beautifully.

So haven't you learned by now that what you want and what these movies are doing aren't on the same page? Did you somehow expect that he'd suddenly change his ways for Bane?

Again, I 'm in no way saying that you shouldn't prefer or like what you or anyone does...but don't make it as if he's somehow doing an injustice based on that. He, and any other filmmaker for that matter, has every right to reinterpret them the way he has, and he's earned the right to keep doing it with the success and acclaim it's received, even fully respecting and appreciating that some will always have their own preferences. For every 'opportunity' that you see being missed, he's been creating many more with his own take and for many it's been fun to see. And really, we'll always have other versions in comics and whatever else to address those long after this film is made.

So basically, we hear you...it's unfortunate that you just don't prefer this angle, but hopefully you'll still allow it to interest you as an alternate version.
Uh oh.

We're back to the "popularity nullifies any debate of artistic merit" argument.

Is this straight from the Nolan defense playbook? It's getting a little stale.

Popularity doesn't mean there are no missed or wasted opportunities.

In fact I'd rather a Batman movie be somewhat less popular but more successful at showing what makes these characters and concepts special in the first place.

Alrighty...it's unfortunate you won't like Bane.
