If you know me, you might know that one of my favorite shows on TV right now is Broad City. It all started in 2014 when I met this girl named Cosette who was part of a Tribeca film program we attended for the summer. One day she was out shooting a small little scene Broad City and like the supportive friend I was, I eager to see her on TV. Somehow I found myself getting addicted to the show and not just because of my friend.

So when word got out that in 2015 a screenplay written by Paul W. Downs and Lucia Aniello ended up on the blacklist on unproduced screenplays, I was eager to see it become a reality. Rough Night was undoubtedly one of my most anticipated movies to see this year and I don’t get anticipated for movies anymore.

But this year alone for ScarJo we had GitS and now this looks to be a dud.

However, to be fair the whole idea of a "bankable" actor or actress is kinda dead.
Yeah I remember after Lucy came out and was a hit, everyone was all "When is she getting her Black Widow movie?"

She definitely has name recognition thanks to Marvel. But unless they do a lower budget, spy thriller, I don't think a BW is a good idea in terms of return on investment.

People should just go see Atomic Blonde and pretend that she is Black Widow. It's sort of unfortunate, because Black Widow would just be a rehash of Atomic Blonde.
Other than having the Marvel brand I can't really see Black Widow doing anything substantially different than Atomic Blonde.

I can't see the cinematic version of BW doing what Charlize does in Atomic Blonde. We barely get blood as is.

It'll just be a tamer version of Colombiana, and that was PG-13 to begin with.

Looks like I was right about this being a flop. Two in a row.

I've read some articles that posit that the audience this movie was aiming for (young adult female moviegoers) were turned off by the premise ("sex workers are disposable and their death is hilarious"), even when

the movie reveals the "stripper" was a criminal

but Sony couldn't really remarket the movie with that in mind so they pretty much had to take it on the chin. I have no idea how much that really factored into the box office receipts, though.

Has nothing really to do with the gender but the occupation and how it's never treated humanely.

Judging from the trailer the guy's death is somehow considered humorous because he's a sex worker. Yes I'm triggered by that.

Lucy was a very interesting and entertaining movie imo. Not for everyone, then again I like weird crazy movies. I usually like the opposite of what the general public flock to like MCU and Pixar movies. Though I am a Star Wars fan but I like sci-fi and fantasy. I love comic books but only DC titles, X-Men, Thor and Hulk.

If Marvel took a serious approach and dropped the stupid humor and created dramatic tension I would probably become a fan. I love The X-men franchise and how they actually make you feel things are stake and have serious tone. I know thats not the popular opinion on this site but oh well.

I loved Logan and Wonder Woman was just ok even though I'm a DC fan. Im not biased. I just like movies that have a serious tone. I know those don't make as much at the box office because they don't cater to young children.

It's interesting that in the case of Wonder Woman a big chunk of the audience is people over 50 and women. It's under performing with young males. Most the negative comments about Wonder Woman I have seen seem
to be coming from people who are male and young. And yet Wonder Woman is poised to be in the top 10 DOM box office of comic books movie in a few days.

Seems like this movie's counterpart is doing way better at least in the RT critics department https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/girls_trip/
