Indeed, I only wish there was more! When the credits rolled and he said the commentary was over I went "NO!". Because that means all the special features were now accessed.

I'm actually kind of surprised that he didn't do commentary for the Thanos scene, or even better, the shawarma scene.

"Slight foxing around the edges" was a reference to a term used to describe wear and tear on a used book. Whedon said he knew it because he collects Victorian literature (children's books?).

He did make mention of the language Loki used, saying that there was some discussion about how vile it was. Whedon said that he went with the "mewling quim" line because Loki is that nasty and he definitely would go there. It amuses me that there are people who are fine with Loki being an eye-ball drilling, genocidal, fratricidal, homicidal psychopath, but his use of a sexist and sexually-charged insult perturbed them. To me it was all of a piece. Loki is a savage who disguises his base persona well until the urge to degrade and demean others breaks the brittle crust of civilization that hides his depravity.

I was the only one in my group who even knew what "quim" was. Two of them had English degrees, and it went right over their head. I actually gasped. Possibly the most vulgur line in a mainstream PG-13 movie in my recent memory. Kudos, Mr Whedon.

ps the "mewling" qualifier only amplifies the vulgarity. think im gonna borrow the phrase the next time a (male) friend is moaning about something or other - "Don't be such a mewling quim, Chad. She's not worth it." - in lieu of "whiney b***h".

I think you'll be able to catch most people off-guard with it and confuse them. Unless people look it up, most won't know how hard they are being insulted, if at all.

Right. But I think most Brits over a certain age probably know it and I (Bostonian) knew it and my 30 year old gf knew the word. She equated it with p**** rather than c*** or t*** though. Stupid q***. kidding!!!!
