No Marcus Fenix collection according to Rod Ferguson. Although he hinted at other Gears projects (implying more than just the big new game being worked on).

Black Tusk studio boss teases 'exciting projects.'

A Gears of War collection similar to Halo: The Master Chief Collection is not in development, according to Black Tusk Studios manager Rod Fergusson. But multiple Gears projects are.
“I love the passion, but there’s no Marcus Fenix Collection,” Fergusson said on Twitter, following rumors of the collection earlier this week. “We ARE working on other exciting Gears projects. I’ll see you at E3!”
The next Gears of War is currently in development at Black Tusk.

What could the other Gears projects be? As long as the main game is amazing and not released any slower due to other projects it should be interesting. I guess they want to make the most of the rights now.

I do not believe that we won't get a Gears collection. The main Gears company may not be doing it but I'd bet its being outsourced.

Could be. Seems like a strange decision if they don't do it. And it's not like they need their own creative input on a graphical remaster. I wouldn't mind if it was outsourced.

I'd instantly go pre-order or save $60 for a Gears Collection. As for E3..I'm hoping so bad Gears 4 is announced/shown

Well, now wait a minute, is what he said really a denial of their being some type of Gears collection, or simply a denial of something called the "Marcus Fenix Collection". It seems to me a lot of news outlets are inferring that automatically means no Gears collection when it could not. Marcus Fenix as a name and character aren't as iconic as Master Chief, so it wouldn't be surprising at all if they just dropped his name from the collection.

Or the worst case scenario, and they are going to do the remasters one by one.

I'm pretty sure it's being shown at E3. They haven't leaked anything ahead of time at all because they want to make a big impact there.

Others have said the same that this doesn't rule out a Gears collection although it's a bit sneaky on the wording in that case and better to say nothing or no comment IMO. But the Marcus Fenix thing would be relevant to exclude Gears Judgment and just include the first 3 games. I agree it's not as iconic though and Gears won't be as Fenix-focused going forward.

Oh that's a good point too. If the remasters were done one by one his comments would be correct.

I think he's just making up hypothetical dialog to go with the hypothetical idea of remastering one Gears at a time.

I would have completed the game within 5 hours plus download time of him saying that. Perfect way of maintaining the hype after seeing an awesome Gears 4 presentation (as was said above). Wonder how they'll space out Halo and Gears across the presentation. Maybe lead with one and end on the other?

They could drop double bombs of Gears and Halo to end the conference and basically drop the mic..but opening with one and ending with he other would be great too

I hope what we see looks significantly different to GoW3. Judgment wasn't much of an improvement so that will mean a 5 year gap at least since 3 and a new gen. Really should be a lot better.

dunno if this has been posted
Quote:
"Microsoft and Black Tusk Studios are developing a remastered version of the original Gears of War for Xbox One, sources tell Polygon.

The re-release of Gears of War for Xbox One will include updated visuals and reworked cutscenes, courtesy of animation studio Plastic Wax. Stills of Gears of War's remade opening cinematic were shown to Polygon, offering a new look at the Locust invasion with updated visuals.

Microsoft was previously rumored to be working on a remastered Gears of War anthology for its current console, dubbed the "Marcus Fenix Collection." But Black Tusk studio head Rod Fergusson, previously the series producer of Gears at developer Epic Games, downplayed those rumors earlier this year.

"I love the passion, but there's no Marcus Fenix Collection," Fergusson said in March. "We ARE working on other exciting Gears projects. I'll see you at E3!"

Microsoft acquired the Gears of War property from Epic Games in 2014. The company brought on Fergusson and tasked Black Tusk Studios with continued development of the Xbox and PC franchise. Xbox head Phil Spencer has indicated that Microsoft wants to get back to basics with Gears of War.

"The thing that was great about the early Gears of War games, to me, was just the epic scale of the settings that I was in," Spencer said in an interview last year. "The story, the setting was a lot more what I would call soulful and maybe even a little dark. I think the game over time became almost more of a parody of itself; not for any kind of horrible reasons. It's hard to continue to manage the IP."

Gears of War turns 10 years old in 2016. The first game in the series was released on Xbox 360 in November 2006, and was ported to Windows PC the following year.

Polygon has reached out to Microsoft and Black Tusk Studios for comment on Gears of War for Xbox One."

If its only one game. It better launch at around $40 or less. The only way I'd accept $60 for old ass games is if its all 4 games in one package

Water is wet, sources tell Polygon. Yep, water is really wet. People have said water is not wet and will probably never be wet, but nope, water sure is wet, tells this source.

From a Gamepsot article:

Quote:
the Xbox One version features better lighting and improved texture quality. The publication adds that multiplayer runs at 60fps.
