For me, it's really more about budget and screen time. Atlantis/Aquman's powers would be expensive if you want them to look good. Plus, with at least 5 other members (most likely), it would be awfully tough to give Aquaman any sort of dimension as a character.

All just my opinion, but I think pretty valid concerns.
I completely agree. It's not about anyone not wanting to see the character, it's about introducing them in a way that allows the GA to become emotionally invested.

Just a little fun: Let's assume that the line-up for this movie is:

Superman
Batman
Wonder Woman
Green Lantern
The Flash
Aquaman
Cyborg

Then for the sequel you have to subtract 3 current members and add 4 different, new ones. You have to keep at least one of the big 3 (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman). Who do you take out and who do you leave?

Cyborg (Perhaps Titans spinoff with Robin/Nightwing)
Aquaman
Flash (killed off?- elaborated upon in own film)

Add:
Shazam
Martian Manhunter
Plastic Man
Zauriel

Remove Aquaman, Cyborg, and Green Lantern.

Explain that Aquaman felt the need to attend to things in Atlantis (perhaps explored in a solo movie if WB is feeling brave). Cyborg could say that he had a great time but feels like he needs time to discover himself and decide what kind of hero he wants to be. He can return for a Teen Titans movie potentially. Green Lantern is an easy choice because they could have him be called back to Oa due to whatever events take place during the JL movie and be replaced by another human Green Lantern (most like either John Stewart or Kyle Raynor).

That takes care of one of the replacements. The other three could be Green Arrow and Black Canary if WB can figure out how to portray Green Arrow differently than Hawkeye effectively on screen. Then you have another female character who (if necessary) can play a little bit of an eye candy role to attract certain audience members...

Or, they could bring in Martian Manhunter and Hawkgirl to appeal to fans of the cartoon which will bring in another huge chunk of audience members. The trick with either combo is figuring out a third member to add without having them feel like a third wheel... Maybe the Atom? He'd be pretty unique ability wise and since it looks like Ant Man won't be included in the Avengers anytime soon they don't have to worry about looking like a copy in that respect.

I'd remove Green Lantern, The Flash, and Cyborg while they have their solo movies and can do a Titans movie respectively. Because I think the big 3 should star in both team-ups and solos if nobody else will and Green Lantern 2, The Flash, and Teen Titans seem more likely than an Aquaman movie unless he really takes off.

Substitute in:
Martian Manhunter because, come on.
Booster Gold as the comic relief and member that has to prove himself.
Hawkgirl, perhaps with some of Hawkman's characteristics incorporated, as a hot-headed member and a girl who can kick some ass along Wonder Woman.
Zatanna because I think her powers could be a neat visual treat.

Superman
Batman
Wonder Woman
Aquaman
Martian Manhunter
Booster Gold
Hawkgirl
Zatanna

QFT. These arguments are more valid than many people like to think, look at the Avengers. I know it's an overused comparison, but it's still valid. TA had, in essence, just four members. Renner and Johansson were just glorified SHIELD agents, and all the other members were previously introduced. That made it possible for them to just reference each other "I've read your file"-style, to inform those who weren't familiar with the back stories, and to tie the elements together.

You can't do that with someone like J'onn, Aquaman or Wonder Woman, without an introduction. Superman got his story covered, Batman is so well know that he can be established as someone who everyone know about, Flash could be introduced without too much stress, but I guess they'll go with him being a superhero when the film starts.. GL could use the 2011 film as a "sort of" prequel, like somewhere between TIH/TA and HULK'03/TIH, and then get away with just referencing.

I want MM and Aquaman, but the fact that they are going to introduce 4 of them in this movie alone, makes it difficult to do.

I've been a fan of the idea that those two are added in the sequel much to the chagrin of the Government, who are the main antagonists in the film.

Cosmic Book News has allegedly revealed the line-up for the movie:

http://www.superherohype.com/news/ar...-been-revealed

Doesn't Cosmic usually pull 'rumors' out of their asses, rather than actual stuff that Latino Review and Toldja usually confirm?

The general rule of thumb with CBN is begin every article with "wouldn't it be awesome if..."

Because they do make up a whole lotta crap. It's a fanfic site.

That's what I thought. I'm actually surprised SHH! is reporting it as a possibly true 'rumor', when it's apparently not.

Yep. Just the descriptions given of each character sound very much so 'fan-sourced'. And using Reynold's GL as a jump off point but not Man of Steel? What kind of sense would that make? And making a separate Superman could also be a mistake... we'll see how it pans out but I'm calling baloney (bologna?) on this for now.

I also like how they completely reject the 'inclusion of JSA members' as well. I see no Justice Society.

You make that sound like a fact when there's a chance it could be true. I mentioned my reason for thinking that in the other thread. Just saying, there's still a chance.
