I want to be excited about this Hamada news, but I'm so jaded now. WB has let down one too many times.

Another name that'll be shuffled around when WB screws up again.

The question is does he even know or care about these characters? I’d like someone who gives a damn.

He can hire people who give a damn. Quality control should be his priority.

If you don't have 'the love of the characters', you won't know what quality to aim for. WB's problem thus far.

Hamada knows how to quality control! This is great news! This also means there will be no meddling in the Aquaman and Shazam films! Things are looking up

eh... I don't know. The Russo Brothers found Captain America a rather boring character before starting Winter Soldier. It wasn't until they began digging into what made him a compelling character against the world around him, did they really gave him a return to grace.

You don't have to love the characters. But you have to find a quality of the character we all can latch on to and say something meaningful about. Snyder goes on and on about his love of Superman. But he latched on his struggles rather than his traits.

I don’t believe that. You don’t have to have grown up with Superman to recognize when a script with him in it is terrible.

I think the best thing the studio hands over there can do is find the right talent like with Patty and not be so damn thirsty for Avengers money. It was the toxic combination of Zack Snyder and a studio's need to make Justice League ASAP that led to the mess they are currently in.

Hold on right there now, lad. Zaddy was screwed over. If he had been allowed to make the masterpiece we know he can make, we would be looking at Oscars and box office records right now, brother.

BvSUC is still a masterwork, don't get me twisted. But it's also a product of studio mangling. It's pitch perfect. But Snyder was wronged.

Hamada thing does nothing for me. Show me an actual great film, or better yet 2-3 in a row, and then we will talk. So far it's just one suit replaced another. It still hangs on individual talents of directors.

Making sure a movie works on a filmmaking level always trumps source material. No one cares if you use All-Star Superman as a story point if the quality of the movie isn't good.

So over-rated, god I hate that story, but I understand what you are saying. Might not agree, but i understand.

All Star Superman is everything BvS is not. Brilliant, nuanced, great, thematically rich, funny, etc.

I love All-Star Superman. Probably my favorite comic. But if someone used it as a template for a movie, it would be garbage (much like the animated adaptation). That's a comic that was designed to work ONLY for the medium it was written for.

But that's beside the point brandeezy was making. Even if you used a Superman comic tailor-made for film as primary inspiration (like, say, Birthright), if you don't make the film well, no one will care what comic you referenced.

I'm almost afraid to ask but, why do you "hate" All-Star Superman?

I don't know why it works that way for you, I think the film adaption is akin to Mask of the Phantasm, it gets better on repeat viewing for me.

I'm glad it works for some people. I do LOVE the score, at least.

Is the Hamada news actually going to change anything? It just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic as long as there isn't a completely independent person from WB running the DC universe.

I have no opinion on the matter. Maybe it'll do some good, maybe it won't.

WB is at a crossroads. Some of us have been able to tell for years now that the Emperor has no clothes, but with JL's failure it is undeniable and they've never looked more vulnerable. We'll see how they pivot but I don't think anyone has their hopes up too high.
