Of course. You're right. What proof is there? So Bendis did it because of Donald Glover. It's not like they didn't have the Death of Spider-Man planned almost a year in advance or anything.

I'm not saying I'm right. I'm just saying that him claiming after the fact that he wasn't trying to capitalize on Obama or Donald Glover or cheap publicity doesn't mean squat to me. If he produced an early draft of a bio or something to shut people up, it would be a different story.

I honestly don't even give a hoot, I'm just playing devil's advocate here.

A possibility that no one has mentioned is, what if Ock switches bodies with Alpha? Just think all that mad genius within a body that holds so much power?

I think it'll be a 3-way body-Swap.
Alpha
Otto
Peter.
For about an issue or 2, we won't know who went into which body...
but no matter what, Pete will eventually return to his own body, just in time for the next movie...

Also, Marvel can NO LONGER say that they don't pander to the movie audience...
Nick Fury is "now" Ultimate Nick Fury, Steve is back to being Captain America, Hawkeye looks like Movie Hawkeye... the list goes on...

The reason I don't see that happening is because that doesn't seem like something that Slott would promo as him having to disappear for a while. It sounds like he is doing something big picture, which to me means that it's going to directly effect Pete, MJ or May.

I'm kinda curious about the Peter dying rumor now. The J Scott Campbell early cover sketches released this week for Hickman's Avengers features Spider-Man. Why would he be on there if he's possibly going to die in ASM #700?

Um... I think runawayboulder was asking a rhetorical question. He probably didn't expect you to know.

It was totally rhetorical.

I doubt the Avengers would let even Alpha on the team if he becomes Spidey. Even if he tried to pretend he was Peter he'd be caught in like....30 seconds.

Right. This isn't an 80's sitcom where two people can switch places unnoticed and a string of hilarious misunderstandings ensues.

Ben Reilly was caught pretty quick too by Torch and the X-Men.

But at least Ben was the same as Peter genetically and in personality (if not in fighting style or common memory). Alpha is some dumb kid.

Although.... I just got douche-chills remembering Mattie Franklin impersonating Spidey during the 90's relaunch. Ugh that was dreadful.

Yeah and it didn't get much better after Mackie took over Byrne's mess.

The only reason Torch knew was because Silver Sable said something
