I intend for them to not be together. The stained glass is just part of the piece. I have been collecting some items to be used in the background that hopefully will bring the piece together. I hope. We will see. I finally got the grout I have been looking for today. Hope to grout all the pieces and have it completed by next Sunday evening, 10 days |

I was able to grout all the pieces last night. Found a light red grout which will serve as a base for the hot metallic red that will be rubbed into the grout once it dries. I cut my fingers up pretty bad (worse than I ever have) applying the grout. Once the grout dries, then the excess grout will be cleaned off the pieces using rags, tooth picks, and brushes. The glass will then be cleaned with a glass cleaner to make sure all the glue is removed from surface. After all of this is done, a red metallic water based craft paint will be rubbed into the grout to totally change the look of the grout.

I would think plastic would be easier, but Stained glass is my passion.
I purchased red metallic paint to use on the grout, however it is too pale. I have to find a darker red to finish up the grout, then I can begin wiring the piece and putting it all together. |

Found the perfect color for painting the grout. Thanks to my daughter Hannah for helping out.

Just about finished. Got the lights wired. Have to paint the plywood, and place the background on, then secure the mosaic to the wood.

The piece is finally finished. Below is a brief overview of how it came about.
This is a mixed media piece that has been floating in my mind since the first IronMan Movie. First I created the mosaic pieces. The Face, chest piece, and abdomen are all stained glass on wood. The grout was painted to get the correct color. The hands are mosaiced with stained glass as well, however for each hand, I took rubber gloves and filled them with plaster of paris. Once the plaster hardened the rubber was cut off and then the palm was drilled out to allow for lighting. Both hands, face, and chest piece, have a LED light in them that light up the eyes, repulsors and chest plate. My son and I took apart roughly 10 computers, printers, and other electronical devices to get all the mother boards and computer components. These pieces where then screwed to plywood, that measures about 3 feet by 2&1/2 feet. Wow.. took over 2 months to complete ![]()
