I wouldn't have withdrawn any because I am not an idiot but if the bank is at fault then it's the bank's fault and they should pay.

This happened to a friend of mine and he withdrew all the money and spent it. He's currently on a pay plan to pay it back.

You can make the case that he shouldn't have paid it. But this is the bank's fault and the bank should be responsible for paying it back.

Although I agree with it, the law is on bank's side, so if you suddenly became wealthy thanks to bank's mistake it is smart to give back the money anyway, because in the end you'll either have to return the money, forced into a pay plan to pay back the money, or sent behind bars because it is a felony. This guy is just an idiot, and I'm sure he knew the consequences before he spent the money, as well.
