All Secret Origin was was a modern redo of Hal's original origin from the 60s. It was an arc in between Wanted: Hah Jordan and The Sinestro Corps War, I think.

Rebirth is Johns first GL story Secret Origin was published and arrived chronologically after.

I really dug Johns' Secret Origins tale. It was really good at taking the old story and modernizing it and streamlining a lot of the re-writes into a cohesive storyline. Seemed stupid not to use it as the movie.
