Daniel Day Lewis is still my top choice. Other options would be Willem Dafoe, Adrien Brody, Bill Moseley, Crispin Glover, Vincent Cassel, Christopher Eccleston, Hugo Weaving, Sharlto Copley, Paul Bettany, Garret Dillahunt. All the typical names. I hope they don't go young, we already have a Lex Luthor that could pass for a 16 year old going against two grown men, I don't want to see a younger Joker.

![]() Have you seen any 16-year-olds recently btw? You're giving way too much youth credit to Eisenberg if you really think he looks 16. I'm in grad school now and he looks about that age (well around 24-28). |

I just said he could pass for a 16 year old, generally speaking he looks around 18-22 to me. Though I've seen some pictures here and there where he looks 24-25.

I could see Ray Liotta in the role and being ****ing terrifying. He's terrifying without the makeup.

He would perfect.
![]() EDIT: Seriously, that scene in Hannibal 2x12: Mason Verger cutting off his own face and feeding it to Will's Dogs. And laughing. I can totally see him as The Joker. Last edited by king666; 06-05-2014 at 09:09 PM. |

He's said he's not interested in doing big budget films and has turned down roles in them before. It sucks because I think he'd be great.

If we see the joker again I'd love to have it be a mix between Arkham joker and Heath Joker.

Anyone have a particular aesthetic they'd like to see the next go around?
I'd like permawhite obviously, but I think the skin should have a slightly translucent quality, so we can see the blue of his veins and the red of his blood vessels. Give his skin a bit more texture as opposed to the "painted white" look. Essentially a tamer version of the A Serious House Joker. Notably the red, burning eye sockets.

I've always felt that, despite the heightened and abstract stylization of the artwork, that depiction of permawhite skin is probably the closest to what it would actually look like. His skin is white, but you can almost see the blood just underneath. It's unsettling.
And in places where the blood vessels are more constricted (the area around your eyes, the lines in the palm of your hand, the ears, and so forth), the redder the color. Try to imagine a tamer version of this: Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:

It may be a little hard to se in this pic, But Sideshow Collectibles did their Joker figure where the stark white color of his skin had a nice flesh colored wash in the nooks and wrinkles (you can kinda see it on the tips of his ears and chin here) for a shadow effect that mollifies the absolute white to make it less garish and more realistic:
![]() The effect looks even better in real life.

Done similarly to that book, Joker's cinematic appearance could be a visual spectacle. He's always clearly been a guy in makeup in his other live action appearances, this would be an opportunity to do something truly terrifying. ALL of Batman's villains could benefit from a horror touch along the same lines as ASHOASE |

I really don't have anyone in mind for Joker.
I hope they save Joker for a few films. I want other villains to get some love in the next few Batman films.

Not sure if it's already been offered up here, but my first choice is Vincent Cassel. He's a great actor and could look the part for sure. He can play coy, devious, menacing, and physical as well. The french accent would be interesting too - would add a degree of suaveness to the Joker that could be refreshing.
I know this has been kicked around on the internets for awhile...not the look I'd ultimately go with, but it gives a good reference. ![]() ![]()

I remember him been suggested a lot before TDK.
The Joker isn't French, however.

Not in the comics - you're right, but characters have been changed for the big screen. I mean Bane was a latino with a wrestler mask in the comics until Nolan got his hands on him and you can see how that turned out (a lot of people liked that character). I don't think Joker's nationality is a make-or-break aspect of the character. Crazy criminals can come from anywhere.

The Joker is more fleshed out than being a mere crazy criminal, and he has appeared consistently is all types of media, in none of which has he been French.
