Any favorite Christmas themed issues? I know I've read plenty over the years, but my mind is drawing a blank.

Batman "Ghosts" in Haunted Knight was a good one IMO.

I have volumes 1-3 and Santa is bringing me 4 and 5 for Christmas. I haven't seen vol 6 for a reasonable price. After that, I guess I'll just pick up the back issues.

In no particular order..

Vision (King/Walta)
Black Monday Murders (Hickman/Coker)
Superman (Tomasi/Gleason)
Trinity (Manupal)
Nighthawk (Walker/Villalobos)
Paper Girls (Vaughn/Chiang)

I haven't read Paper Girls yet (I own it) but everything I read from Vaughn doesn't really impress me. I want it to, but just doesn't. Same with Matt Fraction. I don't know what it is, I just can't get into books from these 2.

I think Vaughn is one of the best writers in the biz. Both paper girls and Saga are phenomenal. But, if he ain't yer thing, then he ain't yer thing.

Everyone gushes over Scott Snyder, but I don't like anything he does, and I know I'm in the minority.

I am suicide was wonderful after a weak start to Batman in Rebirth. But for goodness sakes, Bane needs to wear something below the equator. What was up with that?

I like Snyder, but I wouldn't put him high on a pedestal like many others do. His Batman run was enjoyable to me. Had some great moments, some bad too. I've read many Batman stories on the same level or better. I'm currently reading through The Wake by Snyder, which I am liking. I have American Vampire but that's in my "read" pile.

What's that all about? Is Bane stuffing socks in his pants or something?

I think Snyder and Capullo are working on something Batman related next summer. Hopefully it will be good. I liked most of their work together, so I will probably enjoy it.

So as it turns out, a TPB of "Justice League Breakdowns" gets released in February, collecting issues of both Giffen's JLI and JLA, just like the later volumes of the original collection. It picks up at issues 53 and 29, respectively, which still leaves a big gap from the end of Volume 6 (which ended with 35 & 11), but it's still something. And it's labeled "Book 1", so there should be more to come.

Incidentally, for Christmas I got Volume 3 of Priest's Black Panther, Volume One of Secret Six, and the War of Kings TPB. Looking forward to reading those!

What would people here say have been the best Rebirth titles overall at this stage?

Oh nice! Thanks for the heads up.

I also have Formerly Known as the Justice League and I Can't Believe It's Not the Justice League. Where do those fit in continuity-wise?

DC has been of fire lately with all the reprints of old runs.

I only read a few issues in before I decided to switch back to a trade waiter. Before I did, I really enjoyed Superman, Action Comics, Detective Comics, Green Arrow, Hal and the GLC. I still haven't read Blue Beetle, Deathstroke and many others yet though, but will eventually. I'm sure you'd be happy to hear that I'm really looking forward to Priest's Deathstroke.

I have a bit of catching up to do with several titles, including Deathstroke. The issues I read were very good. I much preferred them to the extremely action heavy New 52 run that finished this year. Priest focuses much more on the character and his relationships with other characters, such as Wintergreen. His Deathstroke is far more interesting than the New 52 one IMO. His history is also being explored, which I really enjoy.

Superman
Trinity
Detective Comics
Wonder Woman

I feel those are the best ones. Action Comics and Batman started off weak, but recently have gotten to be very good. Same with Green Lanterns. Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps. has been consistently solid.

P.S. I just finished the last of Civil War II, and that has been thoroughly awful from beginning to end.

Aquaman has also been really good. And as a Dick Grayson fan it pains me to say that while Nightwing has been ok at best, Red Hood and the Outlaws has been surprisingly wonderful. Possibly the best title out of the bat family.

Even Y: The Last Man? It's one of my favourite series.
