Its a style of storytelling and film making which is specific to those two and which may be contradictory to each other. Nolan's version of humor is different from Raimi version of humor. Nolan's seriousness is different from Raimi's seriousness. That's what I mean by the film makers possibly mixing and matching different tonal styles. In other words each film maker has their own degrees of seriousness and sillyness , and you can have both as long as there is a consistency. Using Webb's 500 days of summer, there were equally dramatic and emotional moments with silly moments but it didn't feel jarring because those different tones where within a specific range of drama and humor which were consistent to the story he was telling. Where you can run into problems is when a film is The Hangover one moment and the Godfather the next. It doesn't sound like ASM2 has that kind of tone shift but that's just an example of how alot of film have a relatively narrow range of tones within the context of their stories.
Can you give examples? I never found a Nolan type seriousness. I completly disagree with it having Raimi humour. That was more slapstick.

Problem here is that it betrays the Harry character. Him being in Ravencroft also leaves him out of future films.

Adaptations change things because they usually have something to say with the change. If they weren't we wouldn't have Marlon Brando's God version of Jor-El, whom everyone worships and has affected the Superman story up to the present. Or we would have RDJ's Tony Stark actually keeping a secret identity, Thor changing into a human, etc.

Harry isn't Peter's "bestest buddy for life", otherwise they would have introduced him earlier. Heck he's probably closer to Flash. And Norman is bedridden or at least very ill, out of the public eye. So it's already quite different from the previous series and the new film has to work from that.

In this universe, they knew each other a long time ago, probably hanging around the Oscorp offices, but they likely never got that close compared to the previous series. They may rekindle or properly form that friendship now, if not for it being cut short by the Osborn shadow or whatever you call it. Harry becomes Norman's pawn, or has been all along.

The story element here is less of losing one's "best friend forever" since he's not built up for that - just a friend - and more of a decent guy (if Harry is even truly decent) becoming crazed and evil out of desperation. Franco's Harry became Goblin all due to a grudge born of misunderstanding, but this Harry becomes a Goblin due to health issues it seems. The grudge is secondary.

They changed up Harry's arc, no denying that, but this Norman is already more evil from the start, so no start of darkness arc for him is needed. For all we know he took the Goblin formula already but just never suited up to wreck stuff in public because there's no one to fight or whatever. I do hope he's going to come back for real instead of a mirror delusion or flashback. I believe the actor already said he's coming back. And if he comes back he can be like modern Osborn, always the schemer. Which he might already be, even when sick.

Anyone who has seen TASM2,

Is the Rhino chase scene oversaturated with quips? Also how does it rank against other comic book films IYO?

no but he tells him he is also dying and only tells him "good luck"

also anyone who´ve seen it
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
are there any callbacks to the responsability speech from Uncle Ben in the movie?

Just for sake of clarity -
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
Norman does not say anything about being a Goblin and I never said Norman utters the words "Good luck" it's implied, he's basically being an ass to his only child, telling him he's going to die and then handing him the keys to his research.

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
No that is not in the movies, Gwen makes a speech which is more relevant to the goings on in the film

No it's like baby bears porridge, just right. I've mentioned how it's a little weird seeing Spider-Man quip in live action because all we've really had is misery Maguire under the mask but his Spider-Man soon vanishes and it's a pleasure to finally hear a quipping Spider-Man.

I ain't ranking it. I enjoyed it and that's enough.

Then I saw a spot where he says something like, "Good thing you're not one of those cops that rides a horse."
And just now, I saw a spot in which he says something like "Some people are bad drivers."

I have no idea which one of these is in the film, but I hope it's the one with the horse comment.
Easily the best of the three, imo.
Haha I hope so too, that one's hilarious!

So the Fight order is:

1. Fight: Spidey Vs Rhino
2. Fight: Spidey Vs Electro
3. Fight: Spidey Vs Electro (again)
4. Fight: Spidey Vs Goblin

?? Or I know the Fight order badly?

The first fight isn't really a fight, it's Spidey vs. armed thugs and Aleksei, the next one is Spidey vs. Electro in Times Square, then it's Spider-Man vs. Electro once more at the Power Plant followed immediately by Spidey vs. Goblin at the Power Plant Clock Tower then finally we have Spidey vs. Rhino.

Did the ending feel rushed? I mean, the duration between the Goblin fight,
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
(Gwen's death) and the Rhino fight. In other words, did you really feel Peter's pain?

Rhino is pretty great, can't wait to see more of him.

CGI is leaps and bounds beyond that first trailer we saw that looked like a video game. It really is great, even the 3D was pretty decent.

Several months pass between the Goblin fight and the Rhino fight, so whilst it's a quick transition it doesn't feel rushed for the character. It all runs nicely so don't worry about it.

He's gonna break out in the third and be in the S6. It won't be long till we see him again. Besides him being in the last 20 minutes and never showing up again would be Venom all over again.

didnt watch the movie yet, but if rhino fight at the end isn't finished and movie finish it with cliffhanger, TASM3 could begin at the end of TASM2.

It's been confirmed by several people that the last shot is:

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
Spidey swinging the manhole at his head. Most likely TASM 3 will kick off with the Rhino fight.

So in a way we see the TASM3 at the end of TASM2, and you could even consider the end of the scenes regarding Gwen's death as the "end" of TASM2

What are the chances of Harry not ending up in Ravencroft? He could just shut people up using money while he operates in secrecy (Norman from the comics?).

Am I the only one who thinks that Dafoe's Goblin was the definite GG?

Except maybe the costume and lack of motivation after he kills the board members

I'd have preferred Norman to be less schizophrenic (which I'm aware is true to the early comics) and more of a cold psychopath. His costume kinda sucks and he's a bit belittled by having him share screen time with Spidey's origin and getting killed in the first film. He didn't really mess up Spidey's life in any way. Other than that he's a great villain and spends undeserved time in Doc Ock's shadows.
