And that was that. It didn't really make any great impression on me, or cause me to ponder on it over the next few days, it was just kinda instantly forgettable. That's why I reread it, hoping this time I'd see something more in it. Sadly no. I give it maybe 6.5/10
Thanks for the well thought out review. Spectre is such a great character but he really Canberra be hit or miss. It s maxing how many bad stories there are out there for him.

Power Man #48-49

by Chris Claremont and John Byrne

I'm not exactly sure but this may be the first time Luke Cage meets Danny Rand, Misty Knight and Coleen Wing. This issue is epic non-stop action as he fights all three of them to the point where Rand's home is completely demolished. Of course the title character isn't really the badguy and he's being forced to do so to save his friends.

Man, if that cover doesn't hook you I don't know what will. The conclusion to the last exciting issue did not disappoint. For the most part I'm enjoying the artwork and the story has been fantastic. There's also an interesting similarity between this story and another featuring Iron Fist in Marvel Team-Up.

Summary

After a quick recap Luke Cage explains to Danny Rand, Misty Knight and Coleen Wing why he attacked them in the previous issue and after some discussion they decide to help him. They're off to Seagate an island prison where Bushmaster is holding Cage's friends hostage. Iron Fist and Misty Knight go to rescue the hostages while Cage confronts Bushmaster. They find that one of the hostages was forced to recreate the experiment that created Power Man giving Bushmaster powers that may be too much for Cage to handle. Their epic battle damages the lab to the point where they are both taken out as the labs wall explodes outwards. Iron Fist finds Cage who was thrown out of the prison by the explosion and they reunite with Misty who has found the evidence exonerating Cage.

Superman #60 (1991)

I remember seeing this new on the shelf as a kid, and being struck by the presentation of Superman, looking scary with his costume in night-time tones and his heat vision flashing. Later on, I took note of the caption: "Intergang goes down fighting" indicating Superman DEFEATS Intergang. I learned about Intergang from the TV shows, but hadn't seen much of Intergang in the comics I had read, so I guessed that after Superman beat those guys, they never came back. So I always kind of wondered how.
Finally got my hands on the issue. Clark has to gather evidence, going undercover without using his powers or being discovered. Meanwhile there's the new guy, Agent Liberty, running around beating up gangsters as well. It all leads to a big showdown in the docks, with Manheim transforming to his Apokoliptian Beast Mode to fistfight Superman. Superman wins, all the evidence against Intergang makes the papers, and Manheim goes to jail.
That's it. Pretty straightforward, really.
