Bandai Namco recently released its financial results for the fiscal year ended on March 31, 2017, where they shared some business moves they have planned for the year, including a Tales of release on Switch. [Thanks, Game Jouhou.]

The above is basically a look at what Bandai Namco has planned out for 2017’s network entertainment. Under “network contents” it shows their plans to continue maintaining and expanding smartphone titles on a worldwide scale with Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle, One Piece Treasure Cruise, and Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag.

Under console games, it shows their plans for two major worldwide console releases with Tekken 7 and Ace Combat 7. It also says they’re looking to take on the challenge of making a game from an overseas IP.

And finally, the last part shows plans for releasing games on a new platform, the Nintendo Switch. It has Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and Taiko no Tatsujin, but we’ve already known that they’re getting new Switch games in 2017. The new part here is where it’s listed as “Tales of series” beneath the two for Switch in 2017.

However, a Tales of has been listed as “TBD” since January when Nintendo shared some of the upcoming games and series that are expected to release titles for their new consoles. That said, with a 2017 release window for a new Tales of game, we can expect to see some kind of Switch port given that they won’t likely reveal a brand new Mothership title later and have it ready on time for a release within the year.

Perhaps we’ll hear about a Tales of Berseria Switch version at Tales of Festival 2017, which takes place from June 2 through 4 in Japan.

How often do people play their Switch on a TV compared to handheld mode?

Switch players won't have to pay more for 'Rime' after all

Tequila Works

Back in March, fans of Nintendo's latest console and open-world puzzle adventure games got some tough news: Tequila Works' highly anticipated indie title Rime would cost extra and arrive later on the Switch. Luckily for cash-strapped players who want to explore Rime's island environments on the go, a digital copy of the Switch port will now carry the same $29.99 price tag as the PS4 and Xbox One editions.

According to a blog post from publisher Grey Box, "additional development, manufacturing, and publishing costs" drove up the price on the Switch version, but they're hoping to make a bargain to keep prices in line across all platforms. Physical copies of the Nintendo version will still cost a cool $10 more due to the realities of putting out a packaged product, but Grey Box will also include a free code for David García's complete original soundtrack -- something that will also be sold separately online as a $10 download.

Now for the bad news: although Rime will arrive on PS4, Xbox One and PC later this month on May 26th, there's still no official release date for either the physical or digital Switch versions. For that, Grey Box says they hope to make another Switch-related announcement "shortly."

I played my old N64 yesterday. Man, it's an eye opener to do that after such a long time. I'm not really that much of graphics nerd but it does make you re-evaluate nostalgia.

I find the joystick really annoying now. The 64 was good for its time because we didn't have anything to really compare it to, and I had a great time with it back in the day. But I don't think it holds up that well to be honest.

I'm loving the Switch and the fact the core spirit of Nintendo remains after all these years, just updated.

Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack announced for Switch

Azure Striker 1 and 2 on Switch.

Inti Creates is bringing Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack, its collection including both Azure Striker Gunvolt and Azure Striker Gunvolt 2, to Switch via the Nintendo eShop worldwide on August 31, the developer announced at A 5th of BitSummit.

In Japan, the collection will receive a standard physical release for 5,400 yen, a limited edition including a DVD of the original video animation and drama CD for 8,640 yen, and a download version for 4,900 yen.

The Switch version of the collection includes HD rumble support, a new theme song, and all of the downloadable content from the previously released 3DS version.

Here’s the full overview, via Inti Creates:
Overview

The Azure Striker Gunvolt Striker Pack contains both Azure Striker Gunvolt and Azure Striker Gunvolt 2, two of our flagship games that originally made their home on the Nintendo 3DS. With the release of the Switch version of the Striker Pack, there are a host of new features, improvements, and bonus content that make it the truly complete version of the Azure Striker Gunvolt experience. Let’s take a look at what’s in store!

Gameplay Upgraded from 30 FPS to 60 FPS

Since the 3DS game was created with emphasis on the visual aspects of the game, it was only able to run at 30 FPS on that system, but thanks to more powerful new hardware, 60 FPS Gunvolt is here for the first time. The biggest difference between the former 30 FPS and the new 60 FPS can be felt while playing as Copen, the super-quick, high-flying playable character from Gunvolt 2.

Entire DLC catalog from the 3DS version comes pre-loaded

All of the 3DS version DLC, which includes extra stages and bosses, bonus modes, and new songs, comes pre-loaded with the game.

HD Rumble Support

When Gunvolt uses his powerful electrical attacks, the Nintendo Switch’s HD Rumble kicks in to bring you even closer to the action.

Screen layout has been completely redone
The screen layout has been redone from a two-screen layout on the 3DS to an intuitive one-screen layout for the Switch.

Brand new song for the Nintendo Switch Version
A brand new theme song by the virtual idol Lumen (VA: Megu Sakuragawa) debuts on the Nintendo Switch!

High resolution event graphics and in-game text
On the Nintendo Switch, in-game text is much easier to read and the characters look better than ever in high resolution.

Adjustments to the game balance and general gameplay improvements

The Kudos system from Gunvolt 1 has been changed to the system from Gunvolt 2, adjustments have been made to some stages to balance out the difficulty, and other minor gameplay improvements have been added.

Numerous language settings
Compatible languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese.

Nintendo Switch Pro Controller Compatibility
Gameplay feels especially satisfying on the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.
