Do you think it's increasing? I don't see it as as much of a threat at the moment but I'm curious to hear what you guys think. Often on these message boards I read 'Get a Shakespearean actor to play a male superhero, get a supermodel to play a female superhero' sort of posts.
How would you feel if one day cinema went the other way? Here are four examples I can think of right off the bat ![]() ![]() ![]()

As TV Tropes put it, "most writers are male." Chicks and gay guys enjoy seeing attractive dudes on film, but for a portion of the heterosexual male populous, we don't even wanna acknowledge it.

Exactly. Key demographic is guys 18-25 PLUS most of the people working in hollywood ARE guys. So films will always mostly cater to us. The rare male exploitation films (I actually wouldn't put Magic Mike in there, most girls I heard left disappointed while the guys however left surprised because the film viewed girls more as objects plus it had just as much if not MORE female nudity lol, so even in a male stripper movie there's sexism). Basically hollywood is ran by guys mostly for guys because that's what we understand most, as a writer I wouldn't risk writing a film with a female protagonist because I just don't understand them enough and figuring most other stick to what they understand as well. Thus the rare film for female audiences.

It is
.It's definetly a weird trend I think. For a while, people tried to reduce the over the top sexualisation of female actresses and now they've given up and just tried to make synchronised sexism.

As long as those horrible actors stay away from the movies i love, it's fine. I don't care about the movies that aim to hormon raged females.

Most of those actors are actually good, but i guess this is the way things go after so many years of half-naked women in action films, Megan Fox in poses and sexualisation of women in almost every movie. Compared to that sexual exploitation of men in movies is almost non-existent.

we have been bombarded with penises for the past decade or more - with nary a vagina in sight - you can probably count on one hand the number of times female genitalia has been on view in a non-porn movie - so yes, there's plenty of exploitation afoot!

The only time you get full frontal female is if it's a corpse or if it's some horrible indie movie.

Yes, but men are allowed to play a variety of roles compared to females, who almost always managed to be sexualized no matter WHAT sort of role they are playing. Male penises are usually either a joke (Jason Segal) or some sort of arty statement (Michael Fassbender in Shame). For women, sexualization on screen is merely the norm, even in comparatively rare roles having little to do with sex or romance.

Keep in mind, 99.99% of porn is made for men, so we're still ahead overall.

Has anyone seen Magic Mike?
Cause that was more like 'making women feel bad for sexually exploiting men' than actually catering to it IMO.
