Will Storm be Fox-Free if Marvel declares her x-men resignation?

When hundreds of millions of dollars are on the line, yes. There's no page limit on a legal document. Nobody files contracts thinking "I have to keep this to 10 pages or less." It's exactly as long as it needs to be to put in all the information needed in exacting detail.

Do you have a source for what Feige said? Because I remember Poniboy reporting that Marvel had bought the rights to Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch back. So Feige's idea of complicated might be the legal wrangling they're going through to talk Fox into selling the characters back. Nevermind that we've already heard of a book which Fox has several inches thick which lists every character which they own, with 3 or 4 characters per page (Which would indicate that, yes, Fox DID put 30 years of comics into a legal document, albeit a very thick and heavy one). There's nothing complicated about that. Either they're in that book or they're not.

But I think a lot of people are greatly overestimating exactly who Fox *does* have access to. If the contract really specified that they have ALL Marvel's mutants, you're looking at easily half (or more) of the Marvel roster of heroes and villains, and that just simply isn't believable at all. Plus, the fact that Feige very recently confirmed that Fox *doesn't* have exclusivity over Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver (who are two VERY prominent figures in both the X-Men and Avengers) shows that there's probably a lot of instances where Marvel Studios (or even Sony) might be able to "steal" some mutants for their respective film universes.

I thought he said in that same blurb that SW and QS were very special cases of a 'shared rights' thing, and other than the skrulls that have something kind of similar, that most others are very specific and cut-and-dry as far as who has what.

I'm betting Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch can be used this way:

1. Whichever studio uses them first gets the rights to them for X number of years.

2. If they don't use them again by the end of X number of years, the rights revert to "open" for both studios.

3. If Marvel Studios uses QS/SW, they cannot be referred to as "mutants" (as Fox owns that term in respect to superheroes).

4. If Marvel Studios uses QS/SW they cannot reference their father being Magneto. They may also not make reference to the Brotherhood of (evil) Mutants.

5. If 20th Century Fox uses QS/SW, they cannot refer to the Avengers, nor can they access The Vision for SW's romantic interest.


Either that, or the agreement might balance between TV rights and film rights. It could be that Marvel owns the TV rights to SW/QS, and Fox owns the film rights, and according to their contract whoever uses the character(s) first in a project (TV or Film, respectively) gets control for X number of years.

Who is poniboy? It sounds like you're prioritizing heresay over what the people making the movies actually said:

So yes, if your sources are legit, then that would mean that Feige is lying in order to cover his covert moves to get the rights back - something he has said is not happening. But usually, in my experience, when we have nameless sources that lead us to conclude that filmmakers are using media interviews to manipulate the populace - usually that means the nameless 'insider' sources are not well informed.

Thank you for your insight. I'm for one is tired of hearing about FOX and their rites to everything. They couldn't have the rites to all characters connected to the Xmen, and F4. It's just misinformation put out by those who just assume. A lot of sources make claims they know nothing about or heard based off hear say. I'm sure Kevin isn't going to make claim that would cause legal matters to arise. The man is in the business he knows the ins and outs. I just highly doubt he would lie about this. What would he gain

Well Marvel had better hurry. I really want Wanda on board The Avengers then over with the Xmen. Her history has been longer and richer with the Avengers.
Fox would hurry no doubt to shoe horn them in a first class movie just to one up Marvel. The last thing I want to see is more time displaced mutants with unwanted changes to their history over at FOX.

Probably FOx and Marvel are in good terms that if they need some x-men characters to show up on their films, Fox would be fine with it but with a cost of course.

Which wouldn't help *Marvel* any, so there's no reason for Marvel to do it. Not unless Fox offered *them* something.
