Well they did have more plans for the ghostbusters franchise and they halted those but i think what makes it different is its like saying oh the ghostbusters franchise failed so we shouldn't attempt to make another Men in Black movie because big budget effects filled movies ain't worth the risk for us right now.

Unless they want to make the Sonyverse around Venom as the iron man of the universe then there is nothing stopping them from trying another character out who isn't Venom and make a different type of movie.

Honestly, they shouldn't focus on it as a culmination-type thing.
It's like people forget cbm's and superhero movies didn't build up to the next installment.

I'd say audiences have a lot more bias then critics do. People on Yotube were having live streams celebrating how their subscribers were voting down Solo on RT to stick it to the feminist Kennedy. And there are a lot more of the GA then critics.

Of course bias exists, it's human nature. It's always been part of the critical community, an example being the highbrow New York elitist sect who historically have thumbed their nose at populism in cinema.

The audience is the one with bias. Black Panthers audience score was registering thousands of votes VEFORE the movie was out, all of them negative. There was a Facebook group full of racist hacks who under the guise of Disney haters urged people to downvote the movie. The anticipation score was savotaged with barrage of negative votes before tge movie was made available to public

Some people really didnt want this movie to succeed so dont call critics out for bias.

All movies featuring women or black people in prominent roles. Color me shocked.

That's definitely the reason why there is a huge gap.

Yeah the Black Panther score was rigged by idiot people. I saw the groups it was sad. There were a lot of DCEU people down voting the movie on imdb and Rotten Tomatoes from Facebook too. Just sad.

Yeah, I'm sure it's just a coincidence that literally every movie on your list has been accused at one point or another of being an "SJW movie".

Need more proof?

Revenge
Critics - 92%
Audiences - 58%

BlacKkKlansman
Critics - 97%
Audiences - 78%

RT audience scores mean absolutely nothing.

Well a lot of those movies are SJW films. What a lot of them have in common is the cast and crew attacking people for disliking them, accusing them of racism and sexism. That pertains to Ghosbusters and The Last Jedi especially.

And frankly, I agree with the audience scores for those films. But generally speaking, none of the scores (critic or audience) really mean much, since your personal opinion is what counts.

Some other movies with critics and audience score gaps:

A Quiet Place
Critics - 95%
Audiences - 83%

Spider-Man
Critics - 89%
Audiences - 67%

Spider-Man 2
Critics - 93%
Audiences - 81%

There is no crazy conspiracy to down-vote movies with black or female leads. You have small groups of people who do this, but it is minor.

Heck, you have Wonder Woman with a critic score of 92% and an audience score of 88%, which is pretty darn good. Juno has 94% from critics, 88% from audiences. These films were generally well received, where The Last Jedi, Ghostbusters and others were not.

The Spider-Man movies were made over a decade ago, they don't count. As for A Quiet Place... a 12% difference is not what I'd call a big gap. I've also noticed that artsy horrors do tend to get low audience scores (The Witch being another example).

Never seen anyone call Wonder Woman an "SJW movie".

Nope, I stand by what I said earlier. RT audience scores are rigged by morons and mean nothing.

EDIT: not to bring politics into this thread, but come on.

Dinesh D'Souza's Death of a Nation
Critics - 0%
Audiences - 90%

They're riiiiiiiigged.

The Spider-Man movies also had a sabotage campaign against them due to the great Raimi war when TASM was out.

It has been called that, regardless of whether or not you've seen or heard it.

Okay Donald.

What do you guys predict for the Venom RT scores?

I'm thinking it could be something like:
Critics - 50%
Audience - 65%

Then there was the AOTC fans who were outraged that Spidey overshadowed and outgrossed that film domestically that summer (WW wasn't really a big deal back then). There was a bit of a thing between a section of both fandoms for bragging rights. Many SW fans were taken by surprise and didn't know how to handle it.

If you see the insane amount of audience votes that Spider-Man received on RT people will understand..

Rotten Tomatoes audience score is not a representative sample because it's entirely based on people motivated to go to their website and give a score. While it's tricky because it's not measuring apples to apples, CinemaScore is usually a better metric of whether the audience liked a movie because it at least uses a random statistical sample of people who saw the movie. Because of that, it has some predictive success in figuring out what the week two drop off will be. Unfortunately, a 70% on Rotten Tomatoes means 70% of critics liked a movie, not how much they liked it, while a A- on CinemaScore means the average audience grade was an A-. It would be nice if CinemaScore could say the percentage that gave a movie a thumbs up vs. a thumbs down to better reflect what Rotten Tomatoes measures. Or I guess we could try to represent the average score on Rotten Tomatoes as a letter grade instead of a number grade.

The one thing about RT critic scores is that it does have some influence on whether or not people will decide to go see a film. They even use "RT Certified Fresh" on Blu-Ray DVD covers now, which amazes me.
