Default Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age

Following yesterday's announcement of their new open-world shooter Homefront: The Revolution, Crytek has announced another new game. This one is an original IP called Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age, and it's a third-person multiplayer shooter where teams of four band together to fend off bloodthirsty creatures. This is the first project from Crytek’s new subsidiary Crytek USA Corp, and they promise to deliver intense co-op action and terrifying visuals. Along with the normal monsters, there will also be bosses to take down, but you and the other players will need to work together in order to succeed. New monsters and environments will be created on the fly by a special content generation system, so you’ll never encounter the same enemy or location twice.Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age will be available later this year on the PC and consoles, and you can sign up for the beta test right now by clicking here. The game will also be playable at E3 next week.

Quote:
"In Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age, players will be counting their bullets and crying out for help as they delve deeper into the shadowy world we've created," said David Adams CEO of Crytek USA and former CEO of Vigil Games. "From the outset of the development process, we've poured our imaginations into the game so that everyone who plays Hunt will discover a challenging experience that feels fresh, captivating and rich in possibilities."

How is this concept any different from "The Order: 1886?"

The difference is that these people are hunters and in the order 1886 the story is the retelling of king Arthurs knights of the round table in a steampunk setting /world and they deal with all threats attacking where they live be it a subspecies of creature (which they will show more of later) or man that are threatening where they live .

Video interview set in 18th century lusiana take from monsters take from fokelore & Urban legends (kinda like the show supernatural) and you create the characters on how you want them to look like and them to be .

Crytek co-op monster-blasting game Hunt switches studios

Homefront: The Revolution won't be the only Crytek game changing hands, the German publisher/developer studio has revealed. Following up on today's news that the Homefront IP had shifted to publisher Deep Silver, Crytek has announced that work on Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age will move from Crytek's Austin studio to its Frankfurt location.

"Crytek will retain a presence in Austin, with several staff members maintaining the CRYENGINE support team to assist North American licensees," Crytek said in a statement. "Employees who are not set to be part of that support team will be invited to apply for new positions at Crytek in Germany."

You may remember Crytek USA as the team comprised of staff from Vigil, the development studio behind the Darksiders games. That property now rests with Nordic, who are still figuring out what to do with it ever since buying it in the wake of the THQ auction last year.

Apparently this is still alive with all the trouble the CEo has caused during it's development. which mot people thought this was dead cause of that crap.

A "player-versus-player monster hunter."

In June 2014, Crytek announced Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age, a free-to-play third-person co-op action game from its Crytek USA studio.

Then, just one month later, the company announced that it was restructuring and development of Hunt would shift to its headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany. Today, three years later, Crytek has announced that Hunt will return under the new title as Hunt: Showdown with a gameplay debut at E3 2017 from June 13 to 15.

Hunt: Showdown is described as a “player-versus-player monster hunter” that “has taken the original concept in a different direction under a new development team.” More details about the game will be revealed at E3 2017.

E3 is over and done with and the big stuff like Call of Duty WWII, Star War Battlefront 2, and Super Mario Odyssey have all been covered to death. Now is the time when other games that were at the show get a little time to shine, now that the dust has settled. One such game is Hunt: Showdown, by Crytek.

Hunt has a bit of a storied past, as the game was originally being developed here in the States, in Austin, Texas, but when CryTek shut down that studio, they moved the game and its development to Frankfurt, the company's main office. A lot has happened since 2014, when the game was first shown off, take for example the game was originally a 3rd-person shooter and was very much a horde mode-based game. Fast-forward three years and the game is something new entirely.

Hunt is now a first-person shooter, a genre that CryTek knows very well, but it's also something new and refreshing, a completely new take on multiplayer shooters. Imagine an open map (not world), that has you and a group (possibly friends) in the swamps of Louisana in the back half of the 1800's. It's dark, creepy and there are zombie-like monsters, massive spiders, and demons from hell, but there are also "other" groups of players, all seeking to do the same thing as you, banish these demons to hell for a reward. It has a lot of great mechanics built in, like proximity voice chat. Meaning, if you get too far from your teammates, they can no longer hear you, but a close player, who may be an enemy, will. Every step you take makes a noise, every bullet you fire will draw attention from everything around you, stepping on and breaking a twig, could cost you your life. If you manage to succeed in your task and banish a demon back to hell, your success will show up on the map, letting every other team and player know what you did and where you did it. In the end, the hunter becomes the hunted.

Currently, it looks like Hunt: Showdown will only be available for PC, but hopefully, like FarCry and Crysis, the game will be ported to consoles, especially with hardware like the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.
