Yes, with a better aftermath and actually making that something that shapes Superman it would have been better. I didn't mind the killing itself when I saw the film, but since it's a big aspect of the character they should have done what you said.

That's the second time I've heard someone use the word "unwatchable" to describe Snyder's rough cut.
I mean it could be "leaked" as unwatchable to make WB look less incompetent.

I'm sure if fans of Snyder movies saw this unwatchable cut, they would think that WB was ridiculous for not going with that version while non fans would be like, wow that was unwatchable.

Same here, and what we got wasn't exactly amazing either.

After having seen Whedon's version I would rather have gotten Snyder's unwatchable cut, because as it stands right now I don't want to watch the current version of JL ever again. At least it would have been more cohesive with the other two films even if it was a weird piece of garbage.

If the Snyder cut was released, I'd watch it. But I wouldn't pay to do so.

It’s funny how all these nerd journalists only now seem to coming out to confirm they heard all these Snyder firing rumours, yet no-one seemed to do some journalistic work and actually follow it up.

I wonder how close the overall number of rotten reviews is amongst the CBM universes. I think the DCEU can’t be a million miles away from the MCU even with such a low number of films.

Because he's Batman. We also already saw Navy SEALs sneak in. With that said, would've loved a shot that was at least storyboarded of him walking across the ice and actually succeeding. Probably was cut due to pacing issues, which is a shame.

Was it right to have Superman kill Zod in MoS?
In theory, maybe. In execution, not at all.

Would the X-Men be better off in the MCU?
In terms of box office and merchandising, definitely. In terms of quality? Debatable. I have a sneaking suspicion that despite my cautious hope, Dark Phoenix will be another Kinberg fiasco. But the risks they're taking with the spinoffs and the diversity it offers the genre is incredibly refreshing. When that goes away, we're going to realize there is something missing if all superhero movies look generally the same.

Quote:
Do the Marvel movies sometimes have too many jokes?
I don't know about "too many." They often rely on humor though as a crutch, which is why few of them are as emotionally engaging as the best genre films. But in general, the "jokes" are a symptom of issues with a formula, as opposed to a major problem unto themselves. Mind you, a smaller problem than what Zack Snyder's "vision" and Simon Kinberg's pen have wrought for their respective franchises.

And that's why the thread title was changed. It's sad how little competition there is in this incredibly over-saturated genre.

Thanks for doing that. Just crazy. What is it, 5 films against 18?! So even if they got 100% in the next 13 films they’d still have more rottens lol.

So it looks like all that money Marvel has been paying critics is working.

Any hobby I have where I check message boards I end up finding posters like yourself who complain about journalists not asking the tough questions.

One area where Marvel has improved in phase three is hiring better directors.

Taika, Coogler, etc >>> Alan Taylor.

Doesn’t excuse it. Tough questions need to be asked otherwise we don’t get the full story. It seems evident there was enough industry talk about the Snyder situation yet no journalist seemed willing to bite the bullet and follow through with uncovering the truth. Although with how certain fans act theses days it’s hardly surprising why they would shy away.
