seriously, Caravaggio couldnt make that suit look good.

It's interesting that GL has white gloves in that drawing, yet in the movie he has dark green/black. That gives me hope that the new comics don't necessarily reflect how the MOS Costume will look. As an aside I wonder if in the end of GL Hal gets white gloves, (As the ultimate honor) generated by the ring of course, to symbolize that he is now the Corp's mightiest warrior? Probably not, but I think it would be a nice way to get the classic white gloves in there and to somewhat explain their purpose. Back to the Superman redesign, all of the added lines and stuff looks like DC has Iron Man/Spider-Man Envy.

The blankets were completely unwoven creating balls of Super Yarn. Young Clark, when needed, would cut the thread with his heat vision. Said yarn was also used to sew the seperate pieces together. You know... the way real clothes are sewn together!

Abin Sur wasn't wearing white gloves when he presented the ring to Hal so I very much doubt it.

Seriously, sometimes I enjoy when things like this happen because it's amusing to see people act like the world is ending because you don't like a costume design. You know what? I'm don't really like either of the Batsuits in Chris Nolan's films. But fortunately, the movies were great. On the flipside, the Batsuit in the first Burton film was probably my favorite design of any Batsuit. Unfortunately it appeared in a movie where the Joker was the main character and Batman fought people like he was trained by the Karate Kid. I'll take a mediocre suit over a mediocre movie any day of the week.

So if Superman's costume in the new movie resembles this new design, I really don't think it will matter, as long as the movie is good. Seriously, are any of you going to tell me that you're NOT going to see the movie if he's wearing this?
It certainly won't ruin the film for me, but the armored look just doesn't work for me.

And yet they look good in the comics. I didn't expect the white gloves to be in the movie, but as WB/DC made such a hash early on in promoting GL before the CGI was finished, that every day they feel the need to issue more and more clips to the point they have given virtually everything about this movie away, It would be nice if they could surprise us with something like that. I've officially stopped watching GL clips as of a week ago as I'd like some stuff to be fresh and new to me. I hope to God, they do a better job of promoting the MOS, otherwise it'll be DOA. If they do an Uber controversial costume again, that could be strike one right there!

and I am sure Superman was taking intergalactic super powered villains into account when he was making a costume. superman was like "You know nothing can hurt me, but I will still wear armor and knee pads in the off chance that space aliens and monsters visit earth and are powerful enough to beat me up"

If Cavill is wearing armor, I guess this means he doesn't have to bulk up majorly.

The Fortress of Solitude computer creates the costume for him based on Kryptonian designs. No need for his daddy to pack a suit in his rocket as that would be silly!

True.
@ everyone who does not think that this is going to be the costume in MOS

here are the facts:

Batman in the comics did not wear armor, Batman in the Nolan movies DOES wear armor instead of spandex.

Snyder said they would release an image of the suit before filming commences. Filming starts in two months.
Just as MOS is about to start filming and pics of a suit are OTW, DC Comics decides it's time to give Superman a new costume.

The new comics Superman costume is armor just like Nolan's Batman costume.

Hmmm......

I'm not against the idea of an armored Superman suit for the movies, I just hate the comics design they've created here.

I've seen MUCH better fan renderings of Superman armored costumes.

As for the logic of the armor itself, I hope it's a Kryptonian design. Just as Wonder Woman wears armor reflective of her Amazonian origins.

I personally like the look of the green or black gloves myself, but I'm not that big a fan of Green Lantern, so whatever.

I agree. Hell even Lex Luthor or any man could beat the **** out of Superman as well with Kryptonite.

Because the Fortress of Solitude computer is textile machine. There's a few words for it, let's see,...ah, here it is: Contrived ********!

well that depends on the origin doesnt it. Does he make the costumer prior to a supervillain or after. Comics like earth one he doesnt become superman until after these superpowered threats appear. Im just thinking that superman isn't a dummy or at least i hope, because he should be very intelligent. im sure the fortress has data indicating there are very powerful villains out in the galaxy so he should be aware of the threats.

I could buy Superman wearing an armored suit as an homage to the soldiers of Krypton. He's wears something like a military uniform.

If they are set on eliminating the trunks, I wouldn't mind a black lower section for the suit.

It creates the color division needed without there being a need for trunks.

I am completely against the idea of armor in the movie. That takes away from the fact that he is the Man Of Steel...not the suit of steel
