I agree that the franchise stays as good as it can (and updating Jason is a plus) but I still think the first is the best version of the concept. They could never top it.

F13 Part VI is my personal favorite.

I agree, Part VI is also my favorite. The movie starts with a James Bond style opening with a lot of dark humor and self-awareness. Jason is now an actual zombie and the tone is just perfect. To me, this entry took the best elements of the previous films into one solid horror film.

People tend to disagree with me on this one, but I also really love Part 7. It's a little corny and the MPAA did interfere with the quality of the kill sequences, but Kane Hodder does an excellent job with his stuntwork. It was also refreshing to see someone put up a real fight with Jason since Tommy Jarvis in Part 4.

My least favorite in the entire series is probably Jason Goes to Hell. The lore that was introduced makes no sense, and on top of that, I found the film to be very boring. I would even place Jason X a notch above.

Part 8 had a lot of potential, but the budget ruined the film. If Jason could spend more time in Manhattan, THAT would have been a lot of fun. The film should have been titled "Jason takes a boat to Manhattan."

IV is also my favorite of the series, closely followed by III, however I do enjoy V a lot. I think it's a lot better than people give it credit for, just because of the "it's not Jason" excuse. John Shepard is excellent and my favorite of the Tommys (Tom Mathews is terrible, in spite of 6 being fairly good), Pam is probably my favorite "final girl" of the series, I actually like Reggie the Reckless for some reason, Manfredini is in top form with the score (it's probably the best of the series, on a technical level), and I would watch a sitcom of Ethel & Junior (Ethel is infinitely quotable). It's predictable, sure, and the sleaziest of the bunch, but I still find it better than most that came after it. I know it gets a lot of hate, but I just don't see it. I even think the setting of it at a rehabilitation/half-way house was inspired.

All the Paramount movies have a special place for me, even the super-cheesy 8. It's the New Line entries that make me groan, especially Jason X.

There's something cozy about watching old 80's movies, even if they're bad. It's our own way to time travel into the past.

I miss USA's Up All Night (usually with the gorgeous Rhonda Shear), and their late night Friday the 13th marathons. Sure, they would be censored, but it was still a lot of fun.

I love Part I - IV. I sit and watch them in a row all the time but that’s it for me. I’m not a fan of all the others that followed.

Halloween, Halloween II and H2O are like a complete trilogy for me and thats the only ones I watch.

Has anyone checked out the Freddy's Nightmares TV series? I wonder if that's worth watching at all?

I haven't caught them, but I've heard the pilot was really good.

My favorites in the Friday franchise (in no particulr order just listing them in order right now) are Final Chapter, Jason Lives, New Blood, Manhattan, JGTH and Jason X. Part 2, 3 and 5 I enjoy just not my favorites.

And the original film for myself is honestly at the bottom of the list, not really a big fan. Find it kind of overrated. Keep in mind this is all just my opinion. I’m a major horror fan like others in here, just my preferences.

Does anyone like the Friday the 13th (2009) remake/reboot?

What is the situation with the franchise and the possibility of new movies?

I started watching it the other day but the first 20 minutes are so "been there/done that" of other films that I didn't finish it.

It's not bad. I liked Derek Mears as Jason.

There's a lawsuit right now with no movies for the foreseeable future. It's also affected the video game.

Here's the info:

How does this impact various blu ray releases and such for F13 films? Are those going to be OOP now?

I grabbed the 8-Film Blu-Ray collection as soon as it came out, and I'm glad I did! It lacked Jason Goes to Hell, Jason X, Freddy vs. Jason and the 2009 reboot, but I have those separately.

It's my third favorite in the franchise behind Part 4 and Part 6. Mears is probably my favorite Jason so far.

And as stated above, due to a legal battle new films aren't gonna be happening for awhile, and the game's future DLC is all cancelled.

I hope the rights get cleared up. I think they will, it's just a matter of when.

I liked it okay. If he had just had the mask from the start, it easily could have just been a sequel. I hated the kidnapping twist/reveal, that whole intro could've been scrapped, and a lot of kills were mediocre, but I liked most of the cast (Trent is hilarious to me), Julianna .... wow..., and Derek Mears is a pretty awesome Jason. I was so happy to see him run again.

Mears might be my favorite too, because he pulls from Brooker, White and even Hodder, making a very well rounded Jason.

If he ate them all he could also be a well round Jason.

Dan Bradley is still sore about that.
