Breath of the Wild Director Says The Open-World Design Could Become The Standard For Zelda . June 2, 2017 . 9:30am

In a recent interview, director Fujibayashi noted that there are still “lots of things” they want to explore with the current game design used in Breath of the Wild.

The release of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild brought a grand and vast open-world to the Legend of Zelda series, something not employed in any of its previous titles. The response to this type of design was, for the most part, very positive.

Now, in a recent interview with Gamerant, Breath of the Wild’s director, Hidemaro Fujibayashi spoke about how the ideas from the game will influence future installments in the series.

When asked specifically if the open-world design would become the “standard” in the Zelda series going forward, Fujibayashi replied with the following:
“We can’t really say much at the moment but there are lots of things in this current game design we still want to explore. If, as a result of that exploration, we feel positive we can provide our audience with new experiences it’s possible this design could become the standard.”

Breath of the Wild only just released a few months ago, so it will still be quite some time before we’ll be able to see if the same game design will be used in the next Zelda game.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available on Wii U and Nintendo Switch.

If you own The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the Expansion Pass grants access to three new treasure chests, DLC Pack 1, “Master Trials,” and DLC Pack 2, “The Champions’ Ballad,” as they are released. DLC Pack 1 “Master Trials” includes: Trial of the Sword, Master Mode, Hero’s Path, Travel Medallion, Korok Mask and eight new armors.

In the footage we get to see the a bit of the new Hero’s Path mode as well as the Trial of the Sword, which unlocks the Master Sword’s potential.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available on Nintendo Switch and Wii U. The DLC Pack 1 featuring everything shown in the footage launches on June 20. The second pack will be available this Holiday 2017.

This game is soooooo beautiful!!

definitely worth the wait!!

oh, and I'm very glad there's an option to switch to the Japanese voices instead.

Even though I do love a hot British accent, I think Zelda's Japanese voice is prettier. Felt that way since the release date reveal trailer.

Why you don’t need to worry about your Breath of the Wild save file| June 20, 2017

The Master Trials DLC for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is almost here, and that means it’s time to start preparing for your toughest run through Hyrule yet. Thankfully, though, there’s one thing you don’t need to worry about: your save file.
The new DLC will use a separate set of save data slots from those used in regular gameplay, Nintendo has revealed. This means that you won’t accidentally overwrite anything from your old save.
You’ll still want to be careful, though. While the Normal Mode version of the game uses six save data slots, the Master Mode will use only two, making it harder to jump to a past save if you mess something up.
The Master Trials DLC makes the game harder, but it also adds in the new Trial of the Sword, Heroes Path Mode, the Travel Medallion, and several new sets of armor.
The Master Trials releases on June 30th.

Here's what's fixed with the new patch with the DLC.

Nintendo released the first DLC for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild today, and with it comes patch 1.30, which offers fixes to the base game as well as a couple things that include the DLC.
As always, Nintendo's patch notes are slim in terms of details. But as far as the DLC goes, we know the exact size of the update and what it includes. Here are the details of patch 1.30:
Version 1.3.0

  • Expansion Pass: DLC Pack 1 “The Master Trials” is now available. If you have already pre-purchased this content, you can now play it by updating both the DLC and the software. You can update your purchased DLC through Nintendo eShop.
  • Various fixes to improve gameplay.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was a hugely ambitious title in the series that has definitely paid off, in the end, receiving perfect/near-perfect scores from various publications, including GameZone.

What about it?

I just bought the DLC, but I'll try out the Trial of the Sword. I'm not interested in playing the Master Mode until pack 2 comes out, and I can restart a new game.

it's mentioned in the run down video above him. they said it's in how you be unarmed and not wearing the costume you last had on in the dlc at the start and the difficulty has be ratcheted up to a higher level. There are new costume armor's and gear though, after you get past it the first new differcult enemies if you can .

Players looking for a harder version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildcan now take on the Master Mode found within the first set of DLC. Of course, Nintendo answered the call for the upped difficulty with possibly more than fans were expecting, which is made painfully clear with a White Lynel fight in the starting area.

In Master Mode, players will start a brand new journey on a difficulty level meant only for seasoned players, and nothing could be more telling of a player’s worth than a Lynel fight. In a video, seen below, Link can be seen freshly awoken from his slumber, ready to enjoy the beginning stages of the Great Plateau, but instead, he is forced to run and hide as a White Lynel stalks the entire starting area. Sadly, at this stage Link only has a tree branch to defend himself with, which gives the Lynel an easy win. To make matters worse, even if the player was able to knock some health away, in Master Mode enemies will regain health if you stop attacking for a length of time.

In the standard run of the game, Link has to tango with the epic rider during a quest to collect electric arrows, as well as through random encounters across the open world of Hyrule. Even when fitted with the best armor and weapons, taking on a Lynel is no easy task, so Nintendo really threw down the gauntlet with this first enemy. For those looking for a new challenge but are apprehensive to deal with that much drama from go, the Trial of the Sword challenge will provide a difficult but manageable quest, which a streamer has already completed.

New narrative details revealed, as well as a new art book!

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has recently launched its first DLC, The Master Trial, which we've detailed here. But today, Nintendo has revealed more information about the second DLC, the story-driven expansion Champions' Ballad.
Nintendo of Europe tweeted a video teasing the next DLC, which you can see below. But recently, Eiji Aonuma, the game's producer, talked at a Zelda Masterclass at the Japan Expo in Paris, France. He states that the DLC will have more narrative details and even though we still play as Link, we will learn a lot more about Zelda's character.
Mr Aonuma confirmed you'll still play as Link in The Champions' Ballad, but learn more about #Zelda along the way pic.twitter.com/DvRbvQuOeb
— Nintendo of Europe (@NintendoEurope) July 7, 2017
There has been two Legend of Zelda books so far. One, the Hyrule Historia, focuses on the history of the series, while the other focuses on art. Being that Breath of the Wild is so large, the new book will focus primarily on the artwork from the single game alone.
Nintendo has said the Champion's Ballad DLC will add "new challenges that will let players enjoy a new dungeon and a new original story." It will launch Holiday 2017. The DLC comes in three parts, one of which is already released, and the entire pack is on sale for $20 on the Nintendo Switch eShop.
