Amazon got the TV rights to The Dark Tower. Maybe they can redeem this after the film F'd up.

Flight or Fright Edited by King and Vincent

Posted: March 12, 2018, 18:11:02
This book has just been announced by Cemetery Dance (book) and Simon & Schuster (audio). Sounds like a really great collection with a new story by both King (The Turbulence Expert) and Joe Hill (You Are Released). The book will be released September 4 and here is all info about it.

By Stephen King and Bev Vincent
#1 New York Times bestselling author and master of horror Stephen King teams up with Bev Vincent to present a terrifying collection of short stories that tap into one of King’s greatest fears—air travel— featuring brand-new stories by King as well as Joe Hill, in addition to fourteen classic tales and one poem from the likes of Richard Matheson, Ray Bradbury, Roald Dahl, and Dan Simmons.

Stephen King hates to fly.

Now he and coeditor Bev Vincent would like to share this fear of flying with you.

Welcome to Flight or Fright, an anthology about all the things that can go horribly wrong when you're suspended six miles in the air, hurtling through space at more than 500 mph and sealed up in a metal tube (like—gulp!—a coffin) with hundreds of strangers. All the ways your trip into the friendly skies can turn into a nightmare, including some we'll bet you've never thought of before… but now you will the next time you walk down the jetway and place your fate in the hands of a total stranger.

Featuring brand new stories by Joe Hill and Stephen King, as well as fourteen classic tales and one poem from the likes of Richard Matheson, Ray Bradbury, Roald Dahl, and Dan Simmons, Flight or Fright is, as King says, “ideal airplane reading, especially on stormy descents... Even if you are safe on the ground, you might want to buckle up nice and tight.” This terrifying new anthology will have you thinking twice about how you want to reach your final destination.

Table of Contents:

—Introduction by Stephen King
—“Cargo” by E. Michael Lewis
—“The Horror of the Heights” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
—“Nightmare at 20,000 Feet” by Richard Matheson
—“The Flying Machine” by Ambrose Bierce
—“Lucifer!” by E.C. Tubb
—“The Fifth Category” by Tom Bissell
—“Two Minutes Forty-Five Seconds” by Dan Simmons
—“Diablitos” by Cody Goodfellow
—“Air Raid” by John Varley
—“You Are Released” by Joe Hill
—“Warbirds” by David J. Schow
—“The Flying Machine” by Ray Bradbury
—“Zombies on a Plane” by Bev Vincent
—“They Shall Not Grow Old” by Roald Dahl
—“Murder in the Air” by Peter Tremayne
—“The Turbulence Expert” by Stephen King
—“Falling” by James L. Dickey
—Afterword by Bev Vincent

The untold story of Stephen King and Steven Spielberg's (almost) collaborations

That Poltergeist bit is interesting. I already love it as is, but King's involvement would've really been something.

Spielberg and King. It really is mind-blowing that these two icons who first shot to fame around the same time over 40 years ago have never worked together. I really hope they collaborate on something before they shuffle off this mortal coil.

With IT being the success it was, I have to imagine there will be a good deal of King action over the next few years. And considering how Amblin-esque that movie was, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some renewed interest surrounding The Talisman.

King Has Finished Yet Another Book
Posted: May 11, 2018, 23:56:03
King has finished yet another book after The Outsider (and I don't mean Elevation). Here is what the moderator of King's official message board said:

Since he finished THE OUTSIDER (which was already in production behind the scenes when SLEEPING BEAUTIES came out), Stephen has written another book and a few short stories/novellas, one of which (ELEVATION) will be released in November.

Updated Plot Description Of Elevation
Posted: June 7, 2018, 15:18:32
Section: Book » Elevation
Here is an updated plot description of Elevation.

From master storyteller Stephen King comes a timely, upbeat tale about finding common ground despite deep-rooted differences.

Castle Rock is a small town, where word gets around quickly. That’s why Scott Carey wants to confide only in his friend Doctor Bob Ellis about his strange condition: he’s losing weight, without getting thinner, and the scales register the same when he is in his clothes or out of them, however heavy they are.

Scott also has new neighbours, who have opened a 'fine dining experience' in town, although it's an experience being shunned by the locals; Deidre McComb and her wife Missy Donaldson don't exactly fit in with the community's expectations. And now Scott seems trapped in a feud with the couple over their dogs dropping their business on his lawn. Missy may be friendly, but Deidre is cold as ice.

As the town prepares for its annual Thanksgiving 12k run, Scott starts to understand the prejudices his neighbours face and he tries to help. Unlikely alliances form and the mystery of Scott's affliction brings out the best in people who have indulged the worst in themselves and others.
