Since everyone who died in the future Sentinel attack is alive (not to mention other who died in previous movies like Scott and Jean), presumably McKellan's Magneto is alive, too.

He's probably alive and he's just not with the X-Men, which is of course was good for me.

As much as I love Fassbender, nobody does the magnetic hand gestures better than McKellen.

I have to admit,I said the same thing at that scene.

Seeing him and Charles clasp hands one last time was one of my favorite scenes.

The handshake they both shared towards the end was probably my favourite scene.

It was also my favourite moment of the whole film. All the years fighting and all the anger taken away in one beautiful moment.

I loved that they've both always had respect and admiration for one another despite all the conflict they've had over the years. Truly was a beautiful moment.

Absolutely.

Also, we can all appreciate how menacing Fassbender's presence is or how many other actors/things in the movie works, but McKellen (along with Stewart) is that guy who doesn't just deliver a "good, powerful line" and do it well, but...that guy gets through my defenses so effortlessly and pulls my heartstrings at will. Magnificent actor.

That moment old Lensherr and Xavier shared was perfect. Those are the things that ultimately matter most, even if easily overshadowed by the other 1000 elements that are happening in the movie.

"Little things mean everything" - Matthew Ryan (one of my favorite singer/songwriters)

I agree.

I think both Fassbender and McKellen both portray the character amazingly in their own right. Both have moments where they are threatening, but also times when you really respect and care for the character. One of my favourite quotes that was from The Last Stand, "Charles Xavier did more for mutants than you will ever know. My single greatest regret is that he had to die for our dream to live." I know the film wasn't great, but I did think back to it when Xavier and Erik had their last moment together.

That's a nice quote also.

Magneto guarding the monastery was cool!

And I really love the shot when they knew the Sentinels were already coming and Magneto stood up to go outside to fight with the Sentinels.

I thought McKellen was great in the last goodbye between old Erik and Charles, but his reading of "at the time when we couldn't be more apart" line at the start of the film felt off, like he was rushing to get the line over and done with.

That scene was really cool. The way he just got up and left in silence to face the Sentinels was a really nice shot.

Thanks for the metal shrapnel door pic Rike, I can't even begin to describe how much I loved that scene, the sheer awesomeness of his power, the hopelessness of the situation, the look of despair on Magneto's face, the last minute Blink save, that scene was sheer perfection.

Gosh, I teared up when he covered the door with metal! The things he did to fight until the very end!

I just wished he had more action scenes though.

Wait for the Rescue Rogue deleted scene. I'm sure he got an action scene in that scene.

As many cool scenes as he had in this, none of them topped my top two magneto scenes. (Yes, they are from the Last Stand, heresy I know)
1. When Callisto asks him in the church, "Where's your mark" and he says "I have been marked by humans once already, No needle shall ever touch my skin again."
2. "Charles Xavier did more for mutantkind than you will ever know. My single greatest regret is that he couldn't be here today" (or something similar)

OMG, the way he just pinned Wolverine down during his Stryker freakout was completely badass.

He stole every scene he was in. When he went out to fight the Sentinels at the end, it was like Mariano Rivera coming out of the bullpen.
