Just started watching this today, about to finish up the first season. I hope they explain and I'm sure they do why exactly he turned down his friend's money. Obviously something with the girl but to me it seemed just too plot convenient at the moment. Actually have had that problem a few times this season but besides that minor quibble its pretty phenomenal so far

ok awesome. I figured they would. I bought all 5 seasons today on a whim that I've heard they're good. So far don't regret that decision at all.

They're making it out like it's going to be so incredibly dark and filled with death that I can't help but wonder if it's a diversion or something and the show actually has a super happy ending.

I think the twist may be that what everyone suspects to happen from since the start of the series perhaps won't. Namely that walt may actually live. At most the ending will probably be bitter-sweet. |

Yeah, it's a bit hard for me to imagine this having a happy ending, too. I could see certain elements of it potentially happening (such as Walt living and besting whatever forces come after him), but that it will have that bitter aftertaste (such as Walt living, but losing and alienating his family to a point of no return). I'm kind of wondering about the flashforward at the beginning of the season, too, and if it'll end up being a big red herring like season 2 was.

The flashforward seems to suggest that Walt goes into hiding at some point after Hank finds him out. If that's the case he would have already lost most everything by that point, i.e. his friends and family.

That does seem to be the suggestion, but I'm wondering if it's not the case. Like, perhaps Walt's empire has grown so much and so big that he deals with guns and such. Just thinking they may season 2 us again.

What friends does Walt have now? Maybe his son, but thats just because he doesn't know what is going on. He has basically taken his wife hostage emotionally. If you think Jessie is his friend, think again. No more than a season ago he was ready to shoot Walt in the dome.
He has been alone since basically season 3. The people around him have stuck around just because they are afraid of what will happen if they left.

Not sure if that's the case with his wife anymore. I got the impression that they've healed once he 'quit' at the end of season 5.1. I guess there's that one guy who replaced Jesse.
But yeah, I guess with Hank reading that book, that's about it.

Wounds don't get healed that quickly. She looked him the eye & wished his cancer would come back. You just don't wipe that hatred away.

Hard to tell for sure, of course, since we don't know exactly how much time has allotted in that last episode, but at the very least, they seem to be on that road willingly.

I think it's pretty clear that things are supposed to be on the mend for Skylar and Walt as we leave them in midseason finale. Whether you think that was earned or not is up for debate, but it's pretty obvious that was the intention of that whole dinner scene.

Why does everybody keep referencing season 2 as if it was some sort of weird twist? What is being referred to hear? The Teddy bear? The episode titles? What? I'm confused lol

I will say, I agree that Walt and Skyler seemed to have mended quite a bit by the end there. She had that look in her like she was grateful that everything was over and that she could possibly be getting her "real" husband back. I think it's obvious when he said she was waiting for his cancer to come back that emotions were running high and any guy in here knows sometimes *****es be trippin lol for real though, couples say some screwed up stuff to each other in regular arguments. Imagine being in Skyler's shoes and knowing as much as she does about the man she goes to be with every night. She knows for a fact that the man she loved more than anything blew up a drug kingpin and Skyler is smart so I'm sure the gravity of the situation after during the season 4 finale coupled with what she had set into motion concerning Ted it's amazing she didn't have a worst breakdown honestly

All throughout season 2 we were shown flashforward scenes of Walt's house, and the implication seemed to be that something big would go down there involving Walt and/or his family, but in the end it was something completely different and Walt was only indirectly involved, and his family wasn't at all. It's not right to call it a red herring exactly, I guess, but it was sort of 'Huh, that's what that **** was about!' moment, at least for me.
