Autumn Internationals start soon, finding it increasingly hard to get excited for these.
The novelty of playing the 'Big 3' has definitely worn off in recent years, with SA & OZ having teams going through transitional periods.
All three have left several big stars at home this time.
Critics say that top flight players play too many games, hence the serious injuries & concussions.
make the Autumn Tests every 2 years & make them special again!

Wales team to play Australia on Saturday:

Interesting to see Gatland is continuing his tactics from the Lions tour, playing with two 10's - Biggar at 10 & Owen Williams at 12.

gentlemen ! I've been watching the HSBC Hamilton Sevens ( it used to be here in Wellington, but due to incompetence has been moved - long story )

Have to say, some terrific rugger on display. Fiji are looking like the Fiji of old, and at last the Boks fans have something to cheer about.

Even PNG looked good and had a few moments of razzle dazzle against Russia that embodied everything that's great about 7s.

There are times when i believe that 7s will eventually become the dominant version of the game.

My money is on the Boks to take this one out, while Fiji has a speed and power edge the Boks are amazing at the breakdown.

Okay, it's finals time and both teams look amazing....but Fiji 's offload are just magic.

This is sevens at Its absolute best, Du Preez's late tackle was the turning point.

Fiji are so entertaining to watch. Just thrilling, sigh, must go to bed now.

England 20-10 up against Italy although they just had a try disallowed. They're not going down without a fight.

I saw it, crazy finish. 40 phases!

Uruguay qualified for the World Cup this weekend, beat Canada 32-31. Canada now have one last chance to qualify for the World Cup in november, probably against Spain, Zimbabwe and Hong Kong in a mini-tournament.

My friend kept going on about there being plenty of time left in the game (for Ireland after France came from behind to take the lead late on). Turns out he was right. Poor France!

Not much you can do about it. Most teams wouldn’t last 15 phases of play let alone 40. Even the AllBlacks would crack having to defend for so long.

True. It really was crazy how long it went on for.

I remember the super rugby final of 2000 Br umbies v Crusaders.

At one stage of the game the Brumbies strung together 18 phases and couldn't score. Crusaders proving that defence wins games.

Makes me nostalgic ! Especially for 2002, the year of the perfect crusade - winning all 11 regular season games + the semi and the final.

Anyway, looking forward to the start of this year's super rugby comp.

For all you UK fans, there was still some Lions gear for sale at an outlet store, scored myself a long-sleeve jersey at 40% off. Sweet. Love the Lions and their gear, still got my 2005 tour jersey.

Looking forward to seeing them next time in 2029 - as both teams will really have something to prove.

Cheers !

Impressed with Scotland beating France. And still controversy going on about that try that Wales could have had against England.

Ah good memories. We all remember these kinds of games.

And I’d like to watch Super Rugby this time around. I wonder if they show it here.

Wow, Spain defeated Romania in the European World Cup qualifiers last night. This is huge! It was only the second time in history Spain have beaten Romania. It means if Spain win their last two matches against Germany and Belgium they will qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1999. It will mean Romania will have to playoff against Samoa in June for a World Cup spot. The loser of that playoff will then have to face Canada in the last chance mini-tournament in November. In all likelihood one of Romania, Canada and Samoa won't qualify for the World Cup.
