And the stupid win has screwed up Women's Slopestyle. Cancelled yesterday, so everyone gets 2 today. With quite a few bailouts due to the wind.

Yeah but I wish they had cancelled earlier. One of Australia's athletes was seriously hurt during her warm up. What a waste of all that training

NBA doesnt have the same issues as the NHL because the Summer Olympics don't occur in season. So it's an easier sell for the league and the NBAPA. Not to mention the NBA is a much better run organization than the old, stodgy NHL and they realize the global marketing value in the Olympics.

I cant imagine them ever going back to amateurs at this point.

So will these venues become "white elephants" in a matter of months?

I believe most of the infrastructure was already in PyeongChang previous to the event. This isnt like Sochi or Rio where they built basically the entire thing up just for the games.

Some of the structures that they built for the games like the stadium where the opening ceremonies were are temporary structures that were less costly and can be torn down rather easily.

Sochi & Rio back-to-back nearly killed the Olympics.

Beijing hosting in 2022 will probably be a white elephant & no snow.

Backups will be: Vancouver, PyeongChang, & Nagano

The only Olympics that probably won't have white elephants is Los Angeles in 2028 since most of the facilities are being used right now.

God, just turned it on in time to see Yuto Totsuka's wipeout in halfpipe. Hope he is okay, but he is definitely badly injured.

Shaun White was electric and it was even better that you kind of knew he was nailing that last run. Pretty special way for him to go.

US snowboarders have been absolutely laying it down in South Korea. White has now got to be considered the top snowboarder of all time.

Also, the primetime telecasts on NBC feel really thin with no alpine skiing on the schedule. Really hope the weather clears so we can finally get some skiing.

Well you can't play hockey on frozen canals.

Shiffrin gets a gold in the giant slalom. Could just be the start of a bunch of medals for her.

So it looks like they overhyped the heck out of Nathan Chen. Absolutely folded under the pressure and he'll be lucky to make the top-10. He'll need to get mentally tougher if he hopes to win in 2022.
