I like how Americans react to American Olympians who do not win medals. I would guess Britain and other European nations as well as Australia and Canada feel the same. Other countries don't have the same reaction.

I hate to say it but we treat people who don't win appallingly. Like they're worse than trash

That sucks. We have a "you didn't medal but you represented our country, so you made us proud" mentality.

I really enjoy Slopestyle. That is a fun event.

Sadly, the local guy didn't make the cut.

So is Bob Costas done working with NBC? He was absent during Sunday Night Football and has not done any Olympic coverage so far.

Kind of. He announced he was retiring for the most part last year. He still wants to be a special commentator, ala Tom Brokaw. I think this last Super Bowl was supposed to be his last, but I think his comments on concussions had the NFL force NBC to not to use him.

Here is something for debate: should Olympic basketball in 2020 follow the same route as Olympic hockey did this year? Or will it remain nothing more than an international tournament of NBA players?

Also glad that they did not use Dan Patrick or Al Michaels. I think NBC does a better job of the Winter Olympics than the Summer Olympics. The one issue I had with NBC's coverage of the 2016 Summer Olympics was the fact that they brought Tony Dungy to Rio during the last few days of those Olympics just to talk about Sunday Night Football. And in the London Olympics, they used Cris Collinsworth as a special correspondent, and while I thought he did a good job at it, it was too much NBC saying "hey let's use another one of our Sunday Night Football guys to cover the London Olympics."

Olympic basketball is way too popular on a global scale, to not have NBA stars in it.

Yeah. But to me the Olympics is seeing athletes you don't see everyday and having Olympic Basketball being an international tournament of NBA stars somewhat taints that for me. But I understand why the NBA stars are playing in the Olympics, most notably because the Olympic Basketball Tournament is the most important tournament in all of basketball.

I know this will get some flak, but the Winter Olympics are way better than the Summer Olympics

No flak from me, swimming and hoops are all I really watch at the summer games. Winter I dig hockey, skating, ski jumps, bobsled, luge

I was never a fan of Katie Couric. I wish they used Savannah Guthrie, as she is there for the Today Show. I hope they don't use Dan Patrick or Al Michaels throughout these Olympics.

Much prefer the Winter Olympics to the Summer games, I appreciate part of it will be that I hate the sun, but just the events are far better.
