Default Bond 25

SPECTRE opened on Monday in the UK and will open worldwide soon. I saw the film today and loved it, but now thoughts turn to Bond 25, another landmark for the franchise.

So I figure I might as well kick things off with a new thread and everyone can throw in their ideas of what they'd like to see next.

Personally I am expecting somewhat a continuation and given how SPECTRE ended I can see the pre-credits sequence being Blofeld's men breaking him out of wherever Mi:6 put him.

In SPECTRE we saw the return of the snow chase sequence and in Bond 25 I'd like to see some underwater action, another staple of Bond not used yet in the Craig era!

I'd be interesting if maybe they Winter Soldier'd a Bond film where MI6 is compromised and Bond has to serve the greater good than just his government that he's taken orders from his whole career. Maybe M is the Bond villain? Not Ralph Fiennes, but a new M.

Maybe the 007 is taken away from him and is given to someone else, perhaps a woman and they're stuck on the run and he doesn't know if he trusts her?

They already did that, the plot of Spectre bears more than a passing resemblance to TWS. Only, not done nearly as well.

That could be interesting. MI6 turning on Bond. Has that been done before?

I like the idea of Bond being replaced and having to regain his status. That's probably how we'll get a woman as 007.

With Brexit dividing the country along partisan lines I don't think it would be prudent for Bond to take a pro/anti-UK stance right now. How about a big threat to unite the country again.

Let me suggest something outrageous, and this will NEVER happen in real life, hence why its fantastical quality would acquit to James Bond's sense of adventure.

Spectre has taken control of the American election and has put a puppet on the thrown. Through this puppet, Spectre aims to destabilize the known world order and wreak havoc as we know it. The Americans, Brits and the EU suspect it's the Russians, but Bond discovers it's his old enemy Blofeld, and his dastardly organization Spectre, also having an office in America called Specter.

This puppet installed by Blofeld loves all things purple. He has a flat in NYC that is all purple. I thought about making his gimmick be all about gold, but that was already taken in Bond villainy. At one point he has prostitutes pour and spit grapes all over him. Blofeld blackmails him with this very video to make him his puppet.

I would like for Bond to be set back in the 60s or hell in the 80s again. I'm not interested in another Craig/Mendes film.

Honestly they need to take a break from "rogue Bond" for awhile imo. We've seen that quite a bit recently, and it hasn't been all that effective.

Yeah, it has been done too much, both in Bond and in other franchises. We just had "rogue Bond" in the last film. After already having it in QoS. Evil version of Bond/rogue agent as the villain is also something that has been done a lot, such as with Skyfall. Time to give that a break too.

I'd be interesting in seeing Bond return to the US. It hasn't really been done since 1989, aside from a brief bit in Miami in Casino Royale. Hawaii comes to mind immediately. Some other interesting locales would include Australia, Canada, Malaysia, Argentina, Peru, Tunisia, and South Africa.

One thing I would like is to go back like the old films and have a location where Bond stays for all/most of the film like with Japan in YOLT or Turkey in FRWL, rather than jumping all over the place like in the more recent films.

I'd love to see Bond back in the US in addition to a female 00 as a Bond ally. I'd agree that the whole Bond goes rogue thing has been done.

I would steer clear of the Spectre and Bloefeld for the next film and go back to anthology adventures , i.e. one and done adventures as opposed to direct sequels.

A fellow (female 00) as the main Bond woman would be interesting. I hadn't thought of that, but it's a good idea. We very rarely see the other 00's in these films. They're either just there to die for the plot's sake, or as quick cameos, or they're just referenced in dialogue. And when they do play a big role, it tends to be as villains. Even Moneypenny didn't count because she wasn't a full-on 00. But a 00 who doesn't go bad who's the main ally of Bond, yeah that could be interesting:

Lets see here, my pics right now:

Bond-Daniel Craig.

Q-Ben Whishaw.

Moneypenny-Naomie Harris.

M-Ralph Fiennes.

Rory Kinnear and Jeffrey Wright also return as Bill Tanner and Felix Leiter (that Spectre name drop was such a tease) respectively.

The main Bond woman (a female 00 agent)-Either Tessa Thompson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, or Sophia Boutella.

The main villain (assuming that they don't want to use Blofeld again already of course)-Either Rachel Weisz, Marion Cotillard, or Kate Winslet.

The Henchperson-Dave Bautisa as Mr. Hink (just pull a Jaws, but better this time). He survived the train thing (which was a lame way to go imo), and is now working freelance. If not him, then someone like Lee Byung-Han or Rila Fukushima would be cool.

This i could see....

Introduce a "female Bond" and then, if successful, do a spin-off.
This way, they would have the female Bond, without ruining it.
It also works for race swap...black bond, asian bond...whatever.

I have no problem with other Bonds, as long as they are not the real one.
Bond is male, white and likes the ladies....keep that.

The important important part of Bond is that he's British and cool. Everything else is negotiable

A Hong Kong Bond like character would be interesting though. Or South Korean or whatever. Basically think Felix Leiter. A co worker for Bond but also a chum for him too. Expand out the supporting cast a bit

It's been a while since Golden Eye. I would love a film where Bond is part of an operation which requires more than one 00 agent. Make it an all star event with all those names bandied about for Bond in the recent past playing those fellow agents, Fassbender, Elba ect.

Moonraker (the novel) makes reference to the sort of interactions the 00 agents have with one another, and how worried they get for one another whenever they get hurt out on dangerous missions. The teased it a little bit with 009 in Spectre, but it'd be cool if they showed us 008 (who constantly gets mentioned in the books), 0011, or 004.

Incidentally, it would be pretty great for a film down the line (probably Bond 26) when they recast the role, that they use some of the elements of that novel, such as the first act in the Blades Club when Bond has to play cards at a social club against a millionaire who's been cheating, and the later torture scene from that novel. Maybe they could finally use Gala Brand.

It would be interesting to see how they would handle something like that. I have heard in the books that 008 is considered a better, less disruptive espionage agent in comparison to Bond (never read any Fleming myself).

Yeah he gets mentioned a lot whenever Bond's put into a tricky situation, politically or physically. It does actually invite some interesting possibilities, that we only ever see Bond at work, but there are these other people doing the same sort of thing but going about it from a different place than Bond's usual devil-may-care approach.

Bond Scribes Talk 007 Future Challenge

By
Garth Franklin -

Sunday, January 29th 2017 8:55 pm

James Bond has faced countless enemies in his time, but now he might be up against his most dangerous one yet – current affairs.
Neal Purvis and Robert Wade have co-written every single James Bond film since Pierce Brosnan’s 1999 effort “The World is Not Enough”. In most cases the pair did the ground work while other scribes like John Logan and Paul Haggis joined them for subsequent drafts and polishing. The pair effectively retired from the regular gig after “Skyfall,” but were brought back in to do some late work on “Spectre”.
In a new interview with The Telegraph, Purvis admits that to write a James Bond film today in the rapidly shifting political environment, is a near impossible task. From Brexit to Putin to Trump, real life has effectively “out-Bonded them”. Purvis says:
“The thing is, I’m just not sure how you would go about writing a James Bond film now. Each time, you’ve got to say something about Bond’s place in the world, which is Britain’s place in the world. But things are moving so quickly now, that becomes tricky. With people like Trump, the Bond villain has become a reality. So when they do another one, it will be interesting to see how they deal with the fact that the world has become a fantasy.”
The pair leave the franchise on an odd note. “Spectre” opened in late 2015 and things on the Bond front have been dead quiet since. “Spectre” itself proved a troubled production, one like “Suicide Squad” in that it was the victim of considerable studio interference – especially in the last act. Purvis talked briefly about the problems, saying:
“People were already in pre-production on the film, and they wanted to see things all the time. And sometimes they couldn’t decide what they wanted until they’d seen it written. So you write scene upon scene upon scene. You write so much. But how it finally got shaped was probably down to [Sam Mendes,] the director.”
Purvis and Wade also revealed that construction had already begun at Pinewood Studios on a demolishable full-scale replica of Westminster Bridge which means that whatever re-writes they could do, they had to end it with a scene in which a helicopter crashes into said bridge. It was used then as a choice – Bond could go back to M and the cold life of spying, or leave it behind and join Madeleine Swann in the sun. They had him choose the spy life, but they were overruled.
Despite the issues, will they ever return to the franchise? Wade says: “Never say never, but for sure, Spectre felt like it closed off a certain way of doing Bond. And I think whatever happens next will be quite different.”

Given all the reports about Spectre's troubled production, Craig being burned out afterwards isn't all that surprising really. Hopefully a few years off has softened his opinion.

Bond 25 Team In Talks To Film In Croatia

By
Garth Franklin -

Tuesday, February 21st 2017 9:08 am

Dubrovnik in Croatia has served as a filming location for “Game of Thrones,” “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and is currently host to “Robin Hood: Origins”. It may also serve as a locale for the next James Bond film.
Almost a year ago came reports that EON Productions were scouting Croatia as a potential location for a future 007 shoot. This week, the city’s mayor confirmed that EON have progressed to advanced talks to host some filming in Dubrovnik on the twenty fifth official Bond feature.
MI6 HQ reports that “James Bond is in an advanced stage of negotiations” is what the mayor said during a press conference for the “Robin Hood” film. While an ad for “SPECTRE” was partly shot in the Croation town of Rovinj, the country has not been featured in a Bond film before.
Despite visiting over 40 countries, Bond’s on screen travels have notably not included any of Australasia, Scandinavia, Canada, almost all of Africa and the Middle East, and much of South-East Asia, Eastern Europe and South America.

Crappy source but they're claiming to have broken this news. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...-play-007.html

Quote:

The next James Bond film is slowly gearing up for production — even though Daniel Craig has yet to commit to playing 007 for a fifth and final time.
Screenwriters Robert Wade and Neil Purvis have been contracted to write the story for the untitled film, known as Bond 25, I can exclusively reveal.
They have contributed to several Bond pictures, including Skyfall and the last adventure, Spectre.

Initially, the pair had been left out of that one — but Craig demanded they 'refresh' John Logan's Spectre script. This time round, though, they're the first to be hired.
But who is going to play Ian Fleming's famous secret operative?
Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have made it very clear to Craig that they would like him to return for Bond 25 but the truth is, he hasn't decided yet — though I hear he's keener to do it than not.

In any event, no camera will roll on Bond 25 until next autumn at the earliest; so there's still time for further wooing, if necessary.
Craig has completed two non-Bond films back-to-back — Kings and Logan Lucky — and he's planning to lead an adaptation for television of Jonathan Franzen's novel Purity.
The actor's in terrific form at the moment. He was electrifying alongside David Oyelowo in Othello at New York Theatre Workshop (the play was directed by hot Sam Gold and produced by Broccoli).
As for a director for Bond 25, well Sam Mendes — who shot Skyfall and Spectre — announced that he wouldn't be working on any further 007 pictures. But never rule anything out in showbusiness.
And what about Christopher Nolan? He has expressed interest in the past and, by Jupiter, the Bond films need new life injected into them. Perhaps he's the man to do it — if Broccoli could persuade him.
