I think it was a waste that Lea Sedoux and Waltz didn't do a verbal spar in french.

We've all seen Inglorious Basterds and Waltz going from German to French to Italian so effortlessly

Camille left so little impression I can barely remember her. Generic, through and through.

I did like Fields though. She should have been the main Bond girl.

First off, the source is the Daily Star, and second it's way too early for EON/Sony to be even thinking about the next Bond singer. They wouldn't have even considered it at this point. Do they even have a plot yet?

They probably have an idea for what the story is...but yeah this is surely too soon.

Well she definitely had no idea if she was singing it as

Let the skyfow
When it crumbows
We will stand tow
Face it oh together
At skyfow

But that could just be her cockney accent kicking in.

I'd have to imagine Beyoncé would be busy with Lion King commitments, if the rumours of her doing music for that film in addition to her acting role are true.

That source seems highly questionable. Also, the movie doesn't come out for a while. The script still might go through many changes and rewrites.

Considering that it was "leaked" by Page Six, I wouldn't trust it. It's basically just regurgitating what Bond fans have been theorising since Spectre was announced, that they'd follow the novels.

At this point, most of the stuff that's going to be "reported" will be either guesswork, hearsay and outright rumour mongering. They haven't gotten a director signed yet, they haven't even gotten a studio attached yet and this thing isn't going in front of cameras for at least another six months. Pretty much everything that comes from the tabloids at this point is likely ********.

Sometimes I wonder if the studios themselves leak controversial ideas so that whatever they came up with looks better in comparison. Or it just promotes their movie for them

In comparison to those two ladies Madeline's extremely vanilla (pun intended), with her one standout trait being her backstory and reluctance to use guns.

Which is a shame, because Mr. White uses some of his last monologue to hype her up. He says she's smart, hard to find... And then literally Bond's next scene he's found her clinic with Hinx right behind. I was thinking she'd turn out to be some infiltration expert from Quantum who knew the game like Bond did, though maybe not as a "License to Kill" agent. You can use that to make her standout and make her romance with Bond mean something new, even if it's just two cynical special agents with a fondness for each other.
Having her flip her viewpoint on a dime SOLELY so that she can be kidnapped and we can have the most cliché "damsel in distress" climax that I've seen in a long time (seriously this might as well have been in a Dudley Do-Right cartoon, it was that cartoonish) didn't help matters either.

It was both contrived and undermined her character (and especially since they tried to make her seem competent in that train sequence).

Basically they hyped her up as this resourceful competent character, and I think that Seydoux could have easily played such a character. And they kept teasing that idea throughout the film. But then they undercut her at the worst possible moments.

Normally no. In this case, yes. Just ignoring the entire last film in this case would be the height of lazy writing imo.

Apple, Amazon join the race to nab James Bond film rights http://thr.cm/kPk7Qd

Quote:
The James Bond sweepstakes has taken an unexpected turn. While Warner Bros. remains in the lead to land film distribution rights to the megafranchise — whose deal with Sony expired after 2015’s Spectre — a couple of unlikely suitors have emerged that also are in hot pursuit: Apple and Amazon.
The tech giants are willing to spend in the same ballpark as Warners, if not much more, for the rights, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. MGM has been looking for a deal for more than two years, and Sony, Universal and Fox also had been pursuing the property, with Warners and Sony the most aggressive.
But the emergence of Apple — which is considered such a viable competitor that Warners is now pressing MGM hard to close a deal — and Amazon shows that the digital giants consider Bond one of the last untapped brands (like a Marvel, Pixar or Lucasfilm) that could act as a game-changer in the content space. Apple’s and Amazon’s inclusion in the chase would indicate that more is on the table than film rights, including the future of the franchise if MGM will sell or license out for the right price.
Sources say newly arrived executives Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht are spearheading the effort on Apple’s behalf. Given their background (the pair served as co-presidents of Sony Pictures Television and shocked the industry when they announced in June that they were leaving for Apple), this would suggest that Apple is interested in cutting a larger rights deal or acquiring full ownership to exploit Bond’s largely unmined TV potential. Valuation of the franchise may be anywhere between $2?billion and $5?billion, says an insider.
“In the world of Lucasfilm and Marvel, Bond feels really underdeveloped,” says someone familiar with the bidding process. Sources say that, along with the tech giants, Chinese companies could come in from the cold to pursue not just movie rights but massive licensing rights that could push deals into the billions of dollars.
Very few movie or pop-culture properties quite rival the splashiness of the Bond franchise, which remains one of the most iconic brands with worldwide appeal. And unlike Star Wars, which was not owned by a major corporation until Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012, it is still somewhat independently owned. Some observers feel that the franchise, by only limiting itself to theatrical movies, remains vastly under-utilized by 21st century standards, where expectations are to exploit IP across all mediums, push out merchandising for all age brackets and have spin-offs and cinematic universes.
Other sources insist that, at this stage, Eon producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson remain traditional in their outlook and that theatrical movies are their main concern. The moves arrive on the heels of MGM locking in Daniel Craig to return for another Bond outing and setting a release date of Nov.?8, 2019, with Yann Demange, who helmed the 2014 movie ’71, and Blade Runner 2049’s Denis Villeneuve said to be frontrunners for the directing job.

Little late to the party, but I'm very happy Craig's returning. He is my favourite Bond.

John Woo for a future Bond movie? Get those white doves ready.

Will we ever see a James Bond movie by John Woo?

I met the producers many years ago and they expressed interest in having me do it. But somehow that never came about. I look forward to doing it someday. I really love James Bond.

I always said that Bond should have a tv series - with budgets the way they are, it's easy. focus on decent story telling - look at early Dr Who, Sherlock, Spooks, luthor, Poldark - telling me they can't come up with something snazzy?

Thing is, personally, for me, spectre put me off Bond, Casino Royale was such a game changer, i was disappointed with the slight exception of sky fall.

I think Henry Cavil is prime for a Bond reboot.

Personally I think Spectre (and Quantum of Solace), while several steps down from Casino Royale and Skyfall, was still decent in a very basic way and far from the worst in the series. Certainly they weren't enough to turn me off the cinematic franchise.

I feel like the quality of Casino Royale and Skyfall reflect more poorly on QoS and SPECTRE. By themselves, I don't dislike them, and they wouldn't rank that low on my Bond spectrum for me.

It doesn't help that they're were very immediate follow ups, either. But yeah, I think they're both middle tier more than anything. For me personally I'd say the very worst of the franchise are:

Diamonds Are Forever
A View to a Kill
Die Another Day
The Man with the Golden Gun
Moonraker
