Liked the last two episodes. Something still feels off, but it is getting a bit better each week.

Of course it feels a little off. They restructured the entire writing team...that feeling is going to remain the entire season. It's as if a winning football team changed at least half of its starting roster after a season. It is going to be different...but is everything still going to be good? I expected the worst as the season kept getting closer and closer but 4 episodes in I think the current team has been doing surprisingly well all things considered and I have enjoyed every episode for the most part. I have yet to witness anything that has made it drastically different than previous seasons like for example when Carell left The Office.

The whole writing team was almost completely restructured after season 2 also.

The main problem with this episode is that it was clearly out of order and was originally going to be the second episode, hence it being the first or second day of class.

2nd and 3rd episodes as aired seemed to be hitting a groove more than the Hunger Deans and this past weeks episode.

I think next week's will be better.

I must say, I wasn't much for the Germans the first time around so having another episode centered around them wasn't very exciting.

I actually barely remember the Germans from season 3 so was surprised when they were deemed worthy of returning...I still can't remember how that foosball storyline even resolved...but this episode was actually probably the strongest of the season so far, IMO.

I did like the Die Hard 3 reference though.

Thought it was my favourite episode of the season, it was the second one they produced but aired as the fourth episode.

COMMUNITY Episode to Feature the Cast as Puppets, Jason Alexander to Guest Star

by Dave Trumbore Posted: March 5th, 2013 at 9:49 pm

An upcoming episode of NBC’s Community will feature the Greendale Seven (now Eight with Chang) in puppet form. Titled “Intro to Felt Surrogacy,” the episode takes the study group on a balloon ride that crashes in the mountains where they make the acquaintance of a friendly mountain man (played by guest star Jason Alexander). Returning to campus feeling a bit awkward about their experience, the Dean (Jim Rash) suggests they act out their story in puppet form.

Community airs Thursday nights at 8pm on NBC. Hit the jump for the full press release and an image of the cast as puppets.

Check out the full press release and image of the Community cast as puppets below (via TVLine):
NBC’S ‘COMMUNITY’ CHARACTERS TO BE IMMORTALIZED AS PUPPETS IN UPCOMING EPISODE AIRING LATER THIS SPRING

Award-winning Actor Jason Alexander to Guest Star as Friendly Mountain Man Which Study Group Encounters During Their Time in the Woods

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – March 05, 2013 – NBC announced today that the characters of its acclaimed comedy “Community” will be immortalized as puppets in an upcoming episode airing later this spring. In the episode, the study group takes a wild balloon ride that crash lands in the woods and they end up spending a little time with a friendly mountain man, played by Jason Alexander (“Seinfeld”). The announcement was made tonight at the annual PaleyFest panel presentation for “Community” in Beverly Hills, sponsored by the Paley Center for Media.

As the study group recounts their adventures in the woods, which has left them all feeling a little awkward with one another, Dean Pelton (Jim Rash) encourages them to speak about their experience with the use of puppets. The puppets include characters Jeff (Joel McHale), Pierce (Chevy Chase), Britta (Gillian Jacobs), Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown), Abed (Danny Pudi), Annie (Alison Brie), Troy (Donald Glover) and Chang (Ken Jeong).

Guest star Alexander is well known to audiences for his portrayal of George Costanza on NBC’s hit comedy series “Seinfeld,” a role that earned him six Emmy Award nominations and four Golden Globe Award nominations, along with an American Television award and two American Comedy Awards. In addition, the Screen Actors Guild knighted him “Best Actor in a Comedy Series” and TV Guide readers voted him among the10 greatest television characters of all time. Beyond “Seinfeld,” Alexander’s career has included memorable Broadway shows including Stephen Sondheim’s “Merrily We Roll Along” and Jerome Robbins’ “Broadway,” which won him the Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Tony Award.

The felt and foam puppets are designed and built and operated by Scott Johnson, Drew Massey, and their teams of talented builders and puppeteers. They were also responsible for turning David Boreanaz into a puppet for an episode of “Angel.”

The critically hailed “Community” is a smart, exuberant half-hour comedy series about a tight-knit study group at Greendale Community College. At the center of the group is Jeff Winger (McHale, “The Soup”), a fast-talking lawyer whose degree has been revoked. With some help from his fellow classmates, Winger forms a study group who eventually learn more about themselves than their course work. The series was created by Dan Harmon (“The Sarah Silverman Program”) who serves as executive consultant. Russ Krasnoff (“The Soloist”) is executive producer, along with Gary Foster (“Sleepless in Seattle”), Moses Port and David Guarascio (“Happy Endings”). Tristram Shapeero (“Nurse Jackie”) is executive producer/director. The series is a Krasnoff Foster Entertainment production, in association with Universal Television and Sony Pictures Television.

Community
executive producers David Guarascio, Moses Port, Russ Krasnoff and Tristram Shapeero joined several cast members of the NBC comedy at PaleyFest on Tuesday to make an announcement: A puppet episode is coming later this season!

VIDEO | Exclusive Community First Look: Britta Busts Out Her Very Own Therapist-Themed Rap Song

The story finds the study group taking a wild balloon ride that crash lands in the woods and forces them to spend a little time with a friendly mountain man (played by Seinfeld‘s Jason Alexander). The gang gets immortalized as puppets when Dean Pelton encourages them to talk about their adventures.

Also on tap for this season: More paintball fun, a Freaky Friday tribute and, in this Thursday’s ep, the introduction of James Brolin as Jeff’s dad and Adam DeVine (Pitch Perfect) as his brother.

“It is quite intense between Jeff and his dad,” previewed Joel McHale. “Thank God for Gillian [Jacobs] and Adam, who knock it out of the park. It gets pretty heavy.”

As for whether the identity of Jeff’s dad makes him half-brothers with Castle‘s titular writer, whose dad is also played by Brolin, McHale joked, “Let’s just say, if there is a Season 5, we end up on Serenity.”

Other topics touched on during the PaleyFest Q&A:

SWITCHING PLACES | The Oscar-winning writer who brings Dean Pelton to life, Jim Rash, penned “an episode with Troy and Abed that I think is one of the best we’ve ever done,” raved McHale. Added Rash: “It was an awesome and stressful process. … It’s sort of a Freaky Friday homage with a little body switching, and it’s very important” to the boys’ friendship.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN | An upcoming origins episode will reveal how the superhero-like study group “really came to be,” teased Guarascio.

UNLIKELY LOVE | What does the future hold for the odd pairing of Britta and Troy? The romance is “not doomed,” said Guarascio. “A lot of the year is the resurrection of Britta. … Who knows, maybe that will lead to something we’re not quite expecting.”

CRAZY SHIRLEY | “We’re going to see her house in the Thanksgiving episode,” previewed Yvette Nicole Brown. “Shirley likes really weird wallpaper.” Viewers will also “find out why Shirley’s the way she is,” and it has something to do with her in-laws. The actress also offered up this cryptic tease: “There’s something bigger coming than Malcolm-Jamal Warner playing my husband.”

GRADUATION DAY LOOMS | Will the Greendale gang be leaving school behind at the end of this year? Unlikely. “Everyone’s on their own pace as is often the case in community college,” said Guarascio. “So stay tuned.”

MORE COMMUNITY TALES? | Will the beloved, but ratings-challenged comedy be back for a fifth season? “It’s one of things where no one ever lets you know those things in advance,” replied McHale. “Believe me, I hope so.” As for stepping in as showrunners this season following creator Dan Harmon’s exit, Guarascio admitted that it was “hard” for him and Port. But “the cast is just so fantastic and the heart and soul of the show becomes the people who are performing it,” he continued. “We really need to listen to them because they’ve been doing the show the past three years and they know it inside and out.”

I feel like we're past that at this point though, maybe Jeff of the lt two seasons, but didn't the season 3 finale get significant momentum in moving Jeff away from that?

Everything about this episode was fine except for the stupid half-brother. Worst character to ever appear in a tv show.
