if Verhoeven's gonna do anything related to the bible it would be a movie based on a book he's writing about what he thinks is the REAL Jesus Christ. he was part of the Jesus Seminar and expressed interest in doing a movie about Jesus based on scientific investigations rather than mythology...
...i hope BOTH of them end up making their movies. i wanna see Verhoeven's Jesus and Aronofsky's Noah. then i wanna see Cameron make a movie about Moses based on his "Exodus Decoded" hehe.

I cant wait...Noah will be a college aged kid, who gets addicted to heroin...you know, I originally meant this as a way to sort of make fun of the two clashing things, but now that I think of it, junkie noah selling animals to zoophiles would be a crazy awesome movie...

Aronofsky's Ark Fountain filmmaker sets sail with Noah tale. by IGN Staff US, May 30, 2007 - The Fountain filmmaker Darren Aronofsky has been dropping hints about an epic-scale bible-inspired project that he's been developing for some time now. The subject matter of the film, which Aronofsky has said is partly inspired by a poem he wrote in seventh grade, has been kept secret until now "It's an adaptation of Noah's Ark," Aronofsky tells the EmpireOnline.com website. The Pi helmer says he's almost done with the script, and that the film will take a much more serious approach to the well-known story than the forthcoming Steve Carell comedy Evan Almighty. "This is not a comedy," he told Empire. "It's funny, because Noah's always been done as a comedy. This is definitely more the sci-fi version. It's the traditional Noah story, but it's told in a serious way. More fantasy than comedy." Noah's ark, according to Abrahamic tradition, was a massive vessel built at God's command to save Noah and his family from the Great Flood. The story is contained in the Hebrew Torah, the Christian Old Testament, and the Islamic Quran. Aronofsky says the film will be "huge," and we imagine it'd have a huge pricetag -- much, much bigger than Aronfsky's original plan for The Fountain which the studio ultimately scaled back. Evan Almighty, with its tongue-in-cheek tack on the tale is already the most expensive comedy ever made (final costs are estimated at around $250 million). The bank involved in creating an authentic-feeling film based on the subject could be astronomical. The Noah's Ark film won't be Aronofsky's next, however, as he says he'll do "something smaller" first. How about a remake of Ben-Hur? Lawrence of Arabia, perhaps? No. He probably means "something much smaller." In fact, that small project could be Black Swan, a psychological thriller set in the world of ballet (naturally) that Aronofsky has been circling since earlier this year. |

A psychological thriller set in the world of ballet. Why does that sound like something The Simpsons would have done years ago?

Well, I thought it would be obvious that a film based on Noah's ark that wasn't a blatant comedy would have been serious. If anyone has actually read the story, its actually quite deep and very interesting. Here's hoping this film is treated with the same passion and detail Gibson applied for POTC.
Also, I think it'd be good to see more contemporary serious takes on Biblical events. |

Noah wasn't the most interesting of the stories...why couldn't they took something a bit more fun like Sampson? It'd be freakin' cool to see some big dude killing soldiers with a jaw bone!!

after how much he scrwed with the Fountain who's gonna give him the money for this film? It will just tank beyond belief
I loved Requiem for a Dream but I feel the Fountain he really screwed up... it's like one of the biggest bombs last year along with that retarded Russel Crowe and Ridley Scott romantic comedy crap |

fountain had some excellent ideas that did not flow very well together, but I respect what it was able to do with such a small budget.

I am looking forward to it!
Intersting, will he add the fact that Noah ended his journey on the mountain Ararat (today's Armenia)? ![]() I wonder who's going to play Noah.

I am very interested in this. Like Mr Jide said, I would hope Aronofsky would treat this very much the way Mel Gibson did. Gibson showed when you make these kind of movies with respect and don't insult the faith of those who believe in the subject matter, that it will do very well.
Besides, it's always super cool for me to see a movies about Noah, hehe! |
