You know what, they should have done this game like Halo Anniversary. A whole new campaign and then a MP add on disc that just added new maps and an overrun/judgement playlist to the already fantastic Gears 3 multiplayer.

Problems solved. Get your **** together Epic.

Exactly what they should have done. Can't see many complaints with that & they could have been judged on the campaign instead. Lot of effort saved on their part and the whole project ends up coming off as a success rather than the multiplayer complaints taking the focus away from their positive achievements.

I actually prefer this multiplayer more than Gears 3 aside from the less maps but I think that they are better than any of the Gears games. Spawns are fantastic, the level design is just phenomenal, the gameplay is tighter and faster. Just everything feels better.

Well that's a first! lol, but glad you like it. I can see the potential underneath and that's what pisses me off more. If you took away the numerous huge faults of this multiplayer it really would be great.

Yeah. It annoys me because it's not developer laziness it's just silly design decisions.

I felt the same way with Bulletstorm when they added a boring co-op mode instead of the campaign co-op that game was desperately crying out for.

One thing that might get me back into this game's multiplayer is the return of Execution. DBNOs & revives, hopefully playing as a team rather than 10 individuals, no spawning with frags (not 100% sure on this) or stims. If it works it could be really good with this new shotgun.

I downloaded the new update today and it erased all of my campaign progress and the progress on all of my achievements. Has this happened to anyone else?

Sorry to hear that.

It's to be expected though as this kind of thing has happened in every Gears game and instead of putting resources towards fixing something that can totally ruin the game for a fan, they would rather muck about with what does work and ruin that too!

So half way through the campaign now & that at least has been good. Also have unexpectedly got into Overrun and ranking up on that has been fun.

The campaign was fun and definitely worth playing..but..for me not in the same league as the other Gears games. I guess that was expected to an extent. I know some prefer in game narrative to cutscenes but I think the lack of these compared to the main games took away some of the impact & weight of the storyline. Also felt a bit like an arcade game with a declassified mission (although I think these were a good addition) & stars for every section without too much variety. I prefer the distinction of a straight up cinematic campaign and a completely separate arcade mode campaign with scoring and everything else on.

The final boss is just not in the game at all, even during the boss battle which is quite a big shame. I thought his steed was much better though than the one the Locust Queen used. They should have continued the scene to allow us to fight against him after his steed was defeated.

I'm still enjoying Overrun and will play that till I reach the last achievement related rank. Otherwise once I've finished the Insane/Insane Declassified/Insane All Stars playthrough I might be done with the game (aside from DLC achievements). Will have been by far the least amount of time I've spent on a Gears game.

There are ways to back up data on the cloud or on USB. I highly recommend all Gears players do this.

Guys there have been quite a lot of updates to multiplayer. And there is new DLC coming soon and well as a new update. I highly recommend trying it out now to see if you like it better.

When I found out checkout was a map that was when I regretted getting the season pass. Checkout is a fairly new map, if I want checkout I'll play Gears 3. I look on FB and the forums and the negative feedback for this game shows. This title has done more harm than good for the franchise.

I love Checkout but including it in a game which looks no better graphically and came out so soon after Gears 3 makes no sense. This game has been a disaster to the Gears brand. All these resources should have been working towards making the next Gears (Gears 4 or whatever they want to call it) for next gen. It could have been the main launch title for the next XBox. But after such terrible fan treatment I am less a fan of the series and it was definitely my favourite until now.
