Well, now that Sotomayor is officially confirmed by the Senate, does this appointment go down as one of Obama's greatest decisions...or his most controversial one?

I think the Health Care Reform will go down as the most controversial....

I think most see this as a liberal leaning judge, simply taking the place of a liberal leaning judge....not much to talk about there.

And in that way I almost, ALMOST feel a little bit, the tiniest bit sorry for them. Bush moreso than Obama. That guy was just....man, he did his best, that's all I can really say. They definitely got a better actor in Obama though. He could win an Oscar.

I agree. If Sotomayor were replacing a right-leaning justice, there would be alot more commotion.

There shouldn't be though. It comes with the territory. Lose the Presidency, get ready to have your SCOTUS judges replaced by someone with a different ideology if the sitting judges die or retire.

Well, I guess its all in how you look at his record....as an educator, he has been pretty good to us, far better than Bush was....and far, far, far better than Richards ever thought of being, and she was an ex-educator.

Governor Good Hair is a jackass. He'll take federal hurricane relief funds on one hand while saying he thinks we should secede from the Union on the other hand.

I don't think it is either. Sotomayor is an attractive choice due to the fact it makes the first black president the one that gave us the first hispanic supreme court justice - but the reality is that Sotomayor does nothing to change the courts ideology. I think the fact that Sotomayor had to denounce Obama's preference of judicial empathy was not a good thing for the President.

Sotomayor was certainly a success for Obama.

Hating lobbyists is like hating mosquitoes. Yea, they are annoying and it's easy to point them out as pests you wouldn't mind the world being rid of...but they are also important for the political ecosystem to work.

Absolutely. I tend to hate to quote Dick Morris - but his touting Health Care as Obama's Waterloo is a pretty good assessment.

Corporate lobbyists are less like mosquitoes and more like viruses. They're the AIDS of the American political system.

Lobbyists are a necessity, unfortunately. I think a lot of us dislike lobbyists because of the perks they get and the access they have to lawmakers, as well as the money they get for getting a deal. But the reality is, we need lobbyists to advance some of this legislation in congress. Without strong lobbyists, some issues wouldn't get attention. It's an unattractive stain on our political process for sure, but it's one of those things we just have to live with.

I don't find it funny because the creators are comparing Obama, a socialist, to the Joker, an anarchist. Then they write "socialist" under the picture. It's just so inaccurate I can only laugh at its stupidity.

A lot of folks call him a Marxist, a communist, a Nazi, etc. Especially at those teabagger rallies.

A lot of them are though. I went to one rally, to humor myself, and was ashamed that people like that still exist in this country. Some of the signs and chants were frightening.

A lot?

majority?
50% ?
25% ?
10% ?
5? ?

How many people did you see holding signs, as opposed to those that didn't?
How many people did you hear chanting, as opposed that were there to simply give their 2 cents?
The speakers themselves, what did they say? Who were they?
Was it because those types of people are simply louder, so they look larger in number?
BTW, what rally did you go to?

Or is it just a generalization?

TODAY MARKS PRESIDENT OBAMA'S 200TH DAY IN OFFICE...

How do you rate his second 100 days?

I'd rate his 2nd 100 days probably around a C, where as the first 100 were a B for me, so around a C+ average overall. As I've said many times, I hate grading presidents this early, I didn't even begin to truly dislike Bush 43 by this point.

I'd say it was close to half. I went to the one in Birmingham on Tax Day.

I don't think it's a good idea to rate his presidency this early. What has he done? He nominated a Supreme Court justice, pushed the bailouts and stimulus bill through, drank beer with a cop and a professor, and is pushing for healthcare reform. I think its wise to start "grading" the president after a year in office.
