If they are playing Lex down a bit and not even giving him the oppourtunity to be ridiculous, then I fully support Meloni...

To me, this is like casting Tommy Lee Jones as Two Face- Brilliant until you let the director/producers dictate what they want the character portrayed as...

I just don't trust filmmakers as much as I did as a kid...

I have to admit I haven't seen most of his catalogue, nor did I recognize him as the guy from F&LILV, but I watced Oz from start to finish when it was on and I loved him. Saw him on Scrubs but not much else and then eventually found out sometime in late '07 that he was on SVU and started watching it.

Point of that meaningless paragraph is, I'm sold on whatever role he has.

Certainly has an intense look to him.

Kinda reminds me of Mark Strong in some shots.

The more I think about it, the more I realize that this is one of those decisions that simply falls in line. I'm going to disclude Cavill because people had him in the mix. WITH ALL DUE RESPECT TO THE TWO OR THREE PEOPLE WHO MAY HAVE SUGGESTED THEM:

(Of course, this is a "yet-to-be-seen" situation)

Nobody thought Costner, perfect casting.

Nobody thought Lane, perfect casting.

Nobody thought Adams, perfect casting.

Nobody thought Shannon (for Zod, anyway), perfect casting.

(Potentially) Nobody thought Crowe, perfect casting.

(Potentially) Nobody thought Ormond, perfect casting.

(Potentially) Nobody thought Meloni, perfect casting [for whatever the role is, including Lex].

Somebody got in WBs ear and said "look, it's time to stop ******* around with Superman" and they are clearly trying to knock this one out of the park.

Look at SR and S:TM, there was quite a big age difference between the actors I think, especially between Brandon and Kevin.

They're not conjoined twins or high school sweethearts.

Adams doesn't look her age, she could pass for a few years younger at about 33 and Cavill can pass for 30. People seem to forget Lois is supposed to be older than Clark.

i guess i always imagined lex to be younger just like how supes is in this reboot. michael rosenbaum and tom welling kinda came into mind when i imagined a young superman and his arch nemesis.
i mean if they're gonna show clark kent in high school, how would chris blend in during high school, he certainly can't be teasing around clark kent at when he obviously look old.

dun get me wrong, i think christopher meloni is a great actor, and he can certain certainly pull off looking like he is 40. but i just dun see how he can star in the first flick when they're showing superman as a teen.

i can accept that because that was a continuation from the older superman series. and superman doesnt age. he went back to krypton and came back, by the time he is back lex has grown old and wrinkly but supes is still lookin young.

Why does Lex have to be in high school with Clark?

not that lex would be in high school, but lex would kinda be friends with clark kent before he was superman. so it made sense to me that they're of the same age.

i may be wrong, chris might turn out to be lex, i just can't picture it right now until i see how the film turns out.

Meloni actually looks really like Jor-El from this comic

And he's age appropriate.

It's cool that everyone seems to think he'd be a great Lex, or a great piece of casting in general.
Personally though I'm tired of the large age gap between Lex and Supes.
Although in fairness to the guy, I NEVER would have guessed he's 50.

I like this guy, he comes off as a good guy but his actions don't always fit that. Like he would be willing to do something bad for the good of people. I feel like the Lex that I want to see, want's the good of all humans and just see's superman as the biggest threat. He can want to do good but in his own way and excluding superman. Kinda like the DC universe video game Lex.
