Asking fans of the first game or this genre in general to buy an overpriced dead console that very likely will see no more games of this type on it, nor major third party support of any kind really is a huge, HUGE ****ing ask. Doubly so if you're not into Nintendo games, then you're literally buying the console for a single game. Plus I imagine most people wouldn't want to play this game on Nintendo's dumb GamePad, so there's probably another $50 they have to she'll out for the normal controller. For most people, Bayonetta 2 isn't a $60 dollar game, it's like a $400 dollar game. Can't blame people for being salty about this one.

Now, Bayo 2 is obviously an amazing game, but is it worth all that bull**** that goes along with it? Taking one look at the nonexistent sales numbers, it would seem the answer for the vast majority of people out there is a pretty strong, "No."
****, I'll blame them. The alternative is that the game wouldn't exist, period. It's incredibly selfish and childish to say "Just because I don't have it, it shouldn't exist." Even if I didn't get a Wii U or ever planned to get one, I'd ***** for awhile at first sure, but then give my nod of the head that the game was able to find its way into existence. If someone can't have that attitude then ****'em.

Yes, such a terrible, terrible deal. Something as a Nintendo fan, I know all too well. I really would love to play the new Godzilla game or the Legend of Korra game, but I can't, because Nintendo. You will pardon me if I don't have sympathy over people who are not used to exclusivity.

Its dumb to, like Soapy say, expect people to spend $400 for one game. Id definitely buy this game if it were on a platform I own but the decision to have it exclusive means they get a zero purchase from me. Its an odd situation bc a good portion of the audience for this are on other consoles, yet this is the only place it was able to get a life

If you were to go by VGChartz, its only done 360K worldwide which isn't all that great, but ranks as #20 in terms of Best Selling Wii U titles. Pretty much its Nintendo's first party titles that are doing 1 million+ units and everything else is lucky to do a fraction of that

To be fair, it wasn't really a "decision" per se, it was the only option. Kamiya said that they shopped it around to many different publishers, but no one wanted it except Nintendo.

Maybe not those exact words (though I'm sure they were said at one point in time), but it's not any different than excessive port begging, at least to me. The overall point is that I disagree it was a "bad" deal for gamers, or that it justified them feeling that way. Because the alternative was that it wouldn't exist in any shape or form, which is a much worse deal. Anyone who can't appreciate that, when so many great games did not or will never get that opportunity, has a pretty childish attitude in my eyes. I can understand frustration in not getting to play it, but like I said, you should be able to rise above that and appreciate that if you have any real like for the first game or franchise.

Relieved by the warm reception
Despite an underwhelming sales performance on release, Platinum Games’ Bayonetta 2 was still a critically acclaimed and highly anticipated angel & demon hunting experience.
With the dust now settled, the producer of Bayonetta 2 – Akiko Kuroda – has recently spoken out via Platinum’s website about the launch of the Wii U exclusive, and how she was relieved the game received such a welcoming reception on release.
I was very happy and relieved to see the game was being so warmly welcomed all over the world, so I’m very grateful to all of you who picked it up!
In the very same post, the producer also revealed how passionate fans in Russia were the only ones to receive an incredibly rare pack of Loki cards, whilst those who attended the launch in New York were treated to witch hunting food, and a photo opportunity with Bayonetta herself.
These are replicas of the tarot-like cards that Loki uses in the game. It’s a full set of the 22 Major Arcana cards created by character designer Mari Shimazaki. If you managed to get your hands on these cards, it would be totally cool if you pretended to be Loki and tried to recreate some of the scenes in the game! I hope they turn this into an official product!!
As a token of his appreciation, Akiko Kuroda shared a game tip and costume Easter egg provided by Bayonetta 2 designer, Ryoya Sakabe.
Let us know in the comments if you’re still enjoying your copy of Bayonetta 2, and if you think there is a possibility of a sales spike for the Wii U exclusive over the holiday period.
Thanks to Ryan Millar for the tip!

Bayonetta 2 released not too long ago, but the developers of our favorite sadistic witch are already hard at work on their next project, which they recently confirmed during a feature with 4Gamer.

“We’ve already began working on the next project, but it seems like it’ll be a little while longer until we can make an announcement,” said Bayonetta 2 producer Akiko Kuroda. “I hope that we can do something related to the Bayonetta series in 2015 as well, so please keep an eye out for more from Bayonetta!”

Meanwhile, Bayonetta 2 director Yusuke Hashimoto stated, “Currently, a new project is in progress! We’re doing our best to develop something that will make you all say ‘I want to play it!’ and thank you for your continued support in 2015 as well!”

Just what this project is remains to be seen. In addition to the game being teased here, Platinum are also working on Scalebound for the Xbox One.

Metareview: GOTY Edition

17

Over the weekend the Joystiq hive mind concluded its annual hive dance and deemed Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor the top dawg of 2014. Monolith's action-RPG may have hacked and slashed its way to the top of our list, but a glance at The Rest of the Internet makes one thing clear: When it comes to 2014's GOTY awards, there isn't One Game to rule them all.

With that in mind, we've taken the Metareview format we use to collate other outlets' reviews and given it a GOTY paint job. As ever, it's just a sampling of all the publications out there and plenty of places have yet to dole out their awards. Nonetheless, here's a wee look at the best games of 2014 according to everyone else.

Mario Kart 8 (4/2/14)
Quote:

Bayonetta 2
Named GOTY by: Edge, Destructoid

"Bayonetta 2 had to fight to be born. Despite the relative popularity of the original game, Sega and Platinum struggled to justify the funding for a follow-up. Nintendo swooped in, securing the exclusive publishing rights for the sequel. In doing so, the company signaled to fans that it was opening its doors to third-party developers in all-new ways, and that it was willing to shed its 'family friendly' image when it felt it was right to do so. The game hasn't been embraced by Wii U owners in the same way that Smash Bros. or Mario Kart 8 have, but that's sadly to be expected. What's important is the people who love Bayonetta 2 really, really love it. I'm yet to meet someone who has played through the game who didn't name it as one of their top titles of 2014." (Destructoid)

Bayonetta 2 Crowned As The Most Accessible Game Of 2014. January 7, 2015 . 8:58am

AbleGamers, the charity that represents gamers with disabilities, has awarded Bayonetta 2 as its Accessible Mainstream Game of the Year 2014.

Quote:

AbleGamers, the charity that represents gamers with disabilities, has awarded Bayonetta 2 as its Accessible Mainstream Game of the Year 2014.

The award recognizes those games that make an effort to create a user-friendly experience with a range of available control methods, readability for colorblindness, and an elegance in design.

Bayonetta 2 was picked out as the most accessible game of 2014 for multiple reasons. For starters, it can be played with the WiiU GamePad, Pro Controller, the GamePad’s touch screen, and any combination of these. Its visuals also do not affect those with colorblindness. But it seems that the game’s inclusion of a one-button combat mode is what really won it over.

“The inclusion of a one-button combat mode creates an experience other character action titles should implement. As a proof of concept, this game demonstrates that accessibility can be implemented into a mainstream AAA game without harming any of the gameplay. Popular titles such as Shadow of Mordor could easily implement one-button mode for those who need such accessibility while leaving a complicated controls for those who prefer those methods, and still award players with a top-notch game that is accessible to everyone,” AbleGamers said.

In closing, AbleGamers said that Platinum Games went out of its way to make accessible a style of game that isn’t usually, and that’s why it won the award.

AbleGamers also had a separate Accessible Indie Game of the Year Award. There were two winners of this award, which were Always Sometimes Monsters by Vagabond Dog, and This War of Mine by 11 Bit Studios.

Nice 25% Price Cut on Bayonetta 2 on Amazon . May 27, 2015 . 10:15am

Bayonetta 2 gets first major sale price 7 months after its release in North America.

Quote:

Since its October 2014 release, Bayonetta 2 on the Wii U has stuck pretty darn close to its $59.99 list price. It’s only dropped a minor amount a handful of times, with the lowest ever being $49.99. That said, any Wii U owners who held out getting this excellent title (review here) are getting some discount carrots dangled today via two retailers:

Earlier today GameStop cut the price by 25% and dropped it all the way down to $44.97 for a brand-new copy. Shortly after the GameStop drop, Amazon price matched, so you’ve now got two solid retailers to consider. If you don’t mind going used, it’s even cheaper at GameStop, with pre-owned units selling for $39.99 (although at about $5 more, it’s probably not a big difference).

We’re not sure if this deal is a today only offer or will run through the end of the week, but either way, it’s only around for limited time.

I doubt they would try to make another Korra game.

1. The series is over.

2. Not a lot of people liked the first one.

3. The only reason Platinum Games made the Legend of Korra video game in the first place was because of Activision (they had rights to have the game and publish it).

Pretty much, especially one and two. To my knowledge the game didn't sell well, and though Platinum did well in some ways, the gameplay was really bad and clunky. Korra pulled a Samus and lost all her bending at the beginning of it.

It was one thing when the series was close to ending and they wanted to put it out there, but there's honestly no reason for another title.

That's fair enough about the show ending. I guess that is true, but this is the first I'm hearing of it selling bad, I thought it did well actually.

But gameplay bad? Nah, you lost me. It wasn't bad at all. It had some issues, but it was still a lot of fun, you could see the Platinum mastery buried under the clunk.
