It was in pre-production, but, all of the relevent parties have gone silent.

In a way, I am happy: while I wanted to see a darker version of - even thought I love the tv miniseries-I was concerned about their intention. Condendsing a 1,ooo page book into a 2.5 hour film requires a lot of discipline, otherwise, the gem (the story) shatters. I learned this from experience: I made a bet with a friend that I could condense 'Salem's Lot to a 140min film. I won, but, dear heavens, it took a lot of time, energy & consideration (what to show, what to hint at, what to have happen offscreen, etc.) But, 'Salem's Lot is 600-something pages, not 1093...........my hair would turn grey if I had to adapt IT.

Speaking of It, I'm just about finished reading it after picking it up every so often the past couple of months. Regarding the ending, it's pretty clear Stephen King was heavy into drugs when he wrote that (as a lot of his work was back then). Reading the stuff involving It's true form is like the ramblings of someone who smoked their weight in weed.

Back in December you could listen to King read a new short story called Afterlife while attending the UMASS in Lowell. Well, now you can read the story yourself. It’s published in volume 14, number 4 of Tin House.

Here is the full interview from Parade. One thing that cought my eye is this:

He continues to write accessible stories at a remarkable rate: A sequel to The Shining, titled Doctor Sleep, will be published in September, and he has “more or less” completed his first hard-boiled detective tale, Mister Mercedes. A series based on his 2009 novel Under the Dome will air on CBS later this summer, and his musical-theater collaboration with John Mellencamp, Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, will begin what King terms a “road show tour” of American cities in the fall.
