Seriously. As much as I like X23, I won't be touching it.

The more and more I read about Avengers Arena, the more I desperately try and activate latent psychic powers that would change time...or something...I just don't see how this will work, even if there's a twist. I felt uncomfortable with his approach to the criticisms of the book. "Death is a part of life we must all face"

True. But, it's currently an annoying part of the comic industry. It holds almost no weight for the big leagues and wipes the teen characters off the map for a cheap thrill or shock value.

Death in comics, when used appropriately can be a powerful and grounding moment. I.E. Oh Hulk is strong enough to topple mountains and crack the planet in half, but he can't deal with an old friend dying from AIDS. Or even Spider-man can invent fantastic tech to aid in his fight against crime. He's pals with Stark, Modell, and Richards...but he can't eliminate poverty and stop a disenfranchised little girl from passing away.

Those stories can be fantastic and pull at your heart strings and ground the manic world of comics in reality. Avengers Arena is not that. Its throwing things together under the concept of "Whoo, your favorites are gonna die! Ain't it cool?!" I'm sure there can be "interesting" moments, but really, it's going forward and intentionally irritating its target audience.

I just don't like the idea of the book. Maybe I'm prejudging. Wait, no, I am prejudging, I accept that. If it turns into a solid story, I'll do what I've done before, eat crow (deep fried baby!) but I just think its a waste. I really like X23 and what I've read of the different Academy kids, I like 'em too. These kids are filled with potential, but all they're gonna get is an attention boost for going to the slaughter house.

Man, this is getting long...I should blog this or something...

Yeah agree..also that it is a copy of Hunger Games/Battle Royale..I don't like that kinda unoriginality...

Also that it is an ongoing..which is utterly ridiculous.

Bendis' Avengers Assemble GOTG, which is pretty much DnA's GOTC but without the awesomeness.

I don't think it's that big a deal. The relationship had pretty much run it's course. I'd be worried about much bigger things with Bendis at the helm.

I can't wait to hear what small group of characters he plans on ass-raping like he did with the ex West Coast folks in Avengers (Wanda, Simon, ect)

I think Gillen pretty much broke them up at the end of his run. Emma throwing herself at Namor, telling Scott and him trying to kill her, kinda sealed the deal. I guess Bendis just makes it official

Yeah, I could care less that that relationship is done. How much can they still love each other after battling each other he way that they did?

This has crossed my mind as well, I just wasn't sure if they were going to go there or not.
