Except that the original source material, and LOTR for that matter, totally is.

Anyone else get to see the 3D trailer with The Day of the Doctor last night? Don't think it was the same as the 3-minute one. Looked new to me

I don't think Galadriel has the sausage. And hers is a more meaningful character.

Edit: I thought so too, Hyde, though I haven't seen any of the trailers for a long time.

Smaug invades Romania in epic ‘Hobbit’ marketing promotion

http://www.hypable.com/2013/11/22/sm...omania-hobbit/
Quote:
A new piece of marketing for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has surfaced, and there’s only one word to describe it: epic.

The image comes to us from Pro Cinema, a website from Romania, the country where the epic promo was constructed (hat tip to The One Ring for finding it).

This structure was beautifully created, and it’s actually really intriguing when you start to think about it. This structure most definitely was not a cheap one to produce, and Warner Bros. must have thought that it would bring enough people into the theaters to cover the cost of the sculpture, and that must be a lot of movie tickets. Granted, they were probably banking on it going viral, but given that, Romania is an unexpected location to construct it.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is only three weeks away from hitting the theaters, and marketing is in full swing.

Are you saying that Evangeline Lilly is bad? Although Tauriel is a supporting character, this is Evangeline's biggest movie role yet so since she is kicking ass & taking names in the movie it is great that she got her own tv spot at least she isn't a stay at home elf like Arwen was.

I wonder if that is Smaug's general look? If so, nice.

No, I like her very much. I just think it is kinda of funny how much attention her character is getting and how little most of the dwarves have in comparison.

Since the Elves in my ME fanfic are descended from the dragons, they're able to swap their genders. Sort of like lizards can.

here's an interesting thing, on this doctor who video, we see some scenes in the Hobbit set of desolated Dale and Gandalf with Radagast staff, which is very similar if not the same of the staff he uses in Fellowship of the Ring

^ Haha that's great.

Check this out. The Hobbit facebook page named the owner of this bike, "Tom", as their fan of the week. This bike features over 500 hours worth of airbrush art. I wish there were pictures of the other side.

And those books were written over half a century ago. Different times, different rules and standards. Plus, she's seems like a pretty interesting/fun character.

Meh, the fact that she is a redhaired-female-elf-archer really just accentuates the "fan fiction" feel around her, in a very similar way as that DLC/tie-in character from Dragon Age 2. Not to mention she's inserted for the sake of having a romance subplot with a character who himself is being inserted into the story. I'm totally fine with having more female characters but she is so blatantly stock it is quite humorous to be quite honest.
