Purchased a PS4 on Amazon Prime Day since it came with Uncharted 4 and Last of Us for free, and bought Yakuza 0 since I've always heard good things about the franchise. I started each game for a half hour thinking I'd be stuck on Unchartered or LOS, but instead got utterly hooked on Yakuza 0.

Game is pound-for-pound the best game I played all year (haven't played Zelda yet) and even the mini games are quite deep like the disco dancing which got my wife hooked on the game as well. Just completed the main story two weekends ago and quickly ordered Yakuza Kiwami. I'm officially a series fan now.

Word, yeah man definitely the best game I played this year no joke. Towards the end I started flying through the chapters coz I was so hooked.

And Kiwami is only $30, btw...

Yakuza 6 delayed to April, 3 days before god of war 4. terrible mistake.

I dont think so. This game is very niche as is. Those that were looking for it are going to get it regardless. Yakuza isnt exactly a casual game that Sega intends to appeal to the masses. While more ambitious than the last, GoW isnt one of those big open world or online service games. Most people will get it, finish it in a few days and move on. Theres room for other stuff around its release

video game sales always peak right at launch. as niche that the Yakuza series is, the release of Yakuza 0 was able to penetrate a tiny portion of mainstream appeal. but whatever potential Yakuza 6 had to demonstrate series growth has now been stunted with its release date being placed next to god of war 4

Just finished Yakuza 6 last night. While I think Yakuza 0 is the better game, this is still a damn good entry, and I thought the story was excellent. I also thought the combat, albeit simplified, was more fluid and felt less grindy than 0/Kiwami.

nice, and yeah I think I enjoyed 0 more than 6 overall other than the performance and graphics.

what did you think of the ending?

I liked it, and overall thought the end was pretty fitting for Kiryu.

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
My only two gripes with the ending were:

1) Kiyomi should've stayed dead. Before she was revealed to be alive, I found Nagumo interacting with Kiyomi's daughter oddly tragic/touching then they had to ruin it with Kiyomi alive at the doorway. Like dude, why wasn't she the one to escort her own daughter to the bar? It was just silly.

2) I felt Kiryu should've been at the orphanage with Haruka. To me, throughout the saga, Haruka was the one thing left that carried on the legacy of his loved ones in Kazama, Yumi, and Nishiki to a certain extent, so I felt kind of split on his decision to walk away from her after all they went through together.

Ultimately though, I can see why the developers thought it was better for him to disappear from everyone. Seems like throughout the entire saga, even when Kiryu is far away, someone always knew to look for him to solve their problems, and his problem was he could really never say no. Him playing up his "death" and disappearing is arguably a very Kiryu thing to do to prevent people from looking him up and using his loved ones to attack him. I don't know if I agree with it, but I can buy it.

I actually kinda hated it, tbh.

I agree with both of your points. That was a huge shock when they showed Kiyomi dying, I didn't want her to die but her "death" did piss me off and it was effective. I also get what you were saying about her daughter, but if they didn't show Kiyomi and it was just Nagumo, I thought it would've been kinda poetic/parallel like since Nagumo would then become the foster father of the daughter of the woman whom he loved, just like how Kiryu became that to Haruka, who is the daughter of the woman whom he loved.

Also, fxck the writers thinking Kiryu going off the grid was a good idea. He's tried that before in Yakuza 5 and that didn't work in his favor. How could he possibly think that Haruka would be better off without him...she needs him. What I think would've been cooler is Kiryu sticking around and teaching Haruka how to fight.

Might as well put out a mega Yakuza Collection of all of them when they are all complete. Cant imagine how much HDD space that would all take or # of discs

yeah I kinda wish 3/4/5 was bundled together like Halo and Uncharted. I'm not sure how much space remasters usually take

It really depends on the game. Ive seen anywhere from 10-30gb depending on the title. The Assassions Creed Ezio Collection was about 38GB for all three games. GTA V was like 50GB but thats more an exception.

hm. Yakuza 6 was north of 30BG iirc, but I'm not sure if that's telling of the remasters since that game uses a new engine

So are the remasters coming out for the west too or are they just for Japan? Either way if they do indeed release them out west I don't know I have the time to invest in playing all 3. I think likely I'd get Yakuza 3 if it's uncut. Maybe I'd get 5 hilariously enough so I can play the Haruka chapter

They were only announced for Japan. Like most Yakuza releases, if they come west, we won’t learn till later

I'd expect a localization announcement after the release of Kiwami 2
