Multi Spec

Multi-Spec is coming out very soon, slightly ahead of my estimated schedule.
This will allow us to have different Power specs for raiding, PVP, different builds, etc.
At launch, multi-spec will only affect your Powers and not items, Omega, synergies, etc.
Everyone receives an account-wide second spec for free. Up to 3 more account-wide multi specs will also available through the G store.
Eventually, we may add the ability to rename your specs for ease of memory.
The display is placeholder, but it will look something like this:

Achievements

  • We're continuing work on the achievements feature, which is on track to release this fall. A big part of the work is making the back end tech work, designing each achievement and setting up a few cool rewards for specific achievements. I think this is going to be a nice feature.
  • Included in the achievements system is a set of achievements called X-traordinary Feats. Feats are achievements that are either incredibly difficult or extremely time consuming or have a limited window in which they can be achieved.

Synergies

We're working to improve the 3 synergies that had "procs" attached to them. This includes Emma Frost, Thor and Ghost Rider.
To coincide with his upcoming QOL review, Ghost Rider is getting the much-requested 4% total Mental Crit synergy, since it fits his theme pretty well and is a large upgrade to his existing synergy.

I'd love for Emma to get something that reflects her dual nature and her Diamond Form element.
Thor seems like a great fits for something that helps out hybrid heroes (like he is).
We would like to hear your suggestions in this feedback thread:

Advance Pack 2

The art team has started concepts on the exclusive HERBIE pet for Advance Pack 2.
Some sites picked up on the Advance Pack 2 announcements:

Bronx Zoo

Amthua has completed his reviews of the new artifacts and uniques for Bronx Zoo. They should go live with Friday's patch.
This Week

This week's event will be Midtown Madness, to keep things simple. We're working on some short-term and long-term upgrades to the ARMOR event for the week after and potentially adding another Scavenger Hunt style event in November to the rotation. We would like to have each recurring event about once every 6-8 weeks, mixed in with some situational events, like Halloween.
To make Midtown Madness smoother, we moved the enhanced loot piles into little crates that can be opened at our leisure.

Thor and Hulk are in early stages. We won't have spoilers until November, so the team can focus on iteration until then. Both will be A+ from what I've seen so far.

New Team-Ups

The Wasp team-up will be releasing with the big Nova patch in October. She is the most amazing thing I've ever seen and looks great teamed-up with me in this screenshot:

Havok, Clea, Deadpool The Kid, Spider-Woman and Arachne Team-Ups are all on track and in development as well.

The best ones will end up being monthly or extremely close to monthly (Omega, ARMOR, Odin's Bounty) whenever possible.
We pay extremely close attention to how much of every currency everyone has and drop rates. We want the "event" items to be rewarding and available for everyone with reasonable playtime. Cost / benefit should be pretty favorable.
That being said, we work to create these events for all of us to enjoy and we will keep iterating and improving constantly. We have a bunch of different mechanics for the different events to see what people enjoy. We are always willing to add new ways to get things, as you can tell from the work we've done from the past year.
Some people prefer pure RNG for finding items and that's perfectly fine. Some people prefer a specific cost associated with certain items and that's perfectly fine also. Ultimately we want to offer various ways of getting items so you can do most or all of the content in the game using whatever acquisition method you prefer. We aren't limited like other games to have strict paradigms to follow, we can and will be flexible as always.

@vthree said: Any chance that you guys will be reviewing event item drop rates? When recurring events were introduced, they were announced as 'monthly' events but seems now they have changed to 6-8 weeks which means obtaining some of the items will take 1.5-2x longer.

We could, if we thought it was worth the time investment compared to making other stuff. Currently work on the next story chapter is a better investment that everyone can enjoy. There are a huge number of enemies in the game that we want storylines for that are super iconic in the Marvel Universe. That will last decades.

@DuckDodgers said: Another question I would ask them is when they are going to implement a DPS calculator.
It would be part of the UI for the character sheet, and it would show what your theoretical max DPS is if all conditions were met.
Very unlikely to do this from a time investment perspective. There would be lots of engineering and UI features we could add that are probably higher priority.
Quote:
Additionally, I would like to ask them if they can improve the UI to the legendary quests reroll. I am rerolling quests with no idea what my credit balance is. It would be nice if the credit balance showed up in the Legendary UI Page.
Not a bad idea and probably easy to do.

It's something that will likely get added some day.
There are a few decisions to make regarding it, but it's not that difficult. Stuff that got pushed ahead of it includes trading, inspect, quest log improvements, chat improvements, multi spec, etc.

We don't generally choose heroes based on their gender, nationality, etc, we choose them for their potential implementation in the game, inclusion in Marvel movies, overall demand, upcoming comic storylines and, most importantly, what designs we think we roll out for them.
The enhanced costumes that are for a different gender hero are done based on cool factor more than anything else. We think Kate Bishop is cool, Captain Marvell is cool, Wiccan is cool, Rachel Alvez is awesome, etc. so we make them into enhanced costumes and hire a new voice actor to record new scripts. They are pretty time consuming and expensive to make, but it's a fun thing to do and we are designers so that's important for us.

Black Cat's overall recognition and popularity is much higher than Dazzler and Jubilee among more people, although all 3 are obviously cool and all 3 made our short list of heroes.
Dazzler has some storyline stuff occuring in 2016 that will probably make her an easy include for Pack 3 and Jubilee has a strong chance of making it into the game as team-up and/or playable as well within a reasonable time frame.
Besides the recognition and popularity, we had some very specific mechanics for Black Cat that we know people will love, so that helped a little.
It's very, very difficult to cut heroes from a list of 50+ down to 12. The last 10 cuts are the toughest.

A new chapter usually takes at least 6 months of development time for concept design, licensing approvals, whiteboxing the environment, environment art, sound, interactables, missions, NPCs, enemies, etc.
We always have 1-2 chapters in development at any given time and will keep making new stuff
In addition, we'll keep adding terminals, one-shots, new raids, new patrol zones and completely new game modes (Holo-Sim, Danger Room and some stuff not ready to announce yet).
The trivia terminal sounds like a fun idea, as well.

@Odiin said: Is there any chance that regular story content be added to the game on a regular basis? A new chapter be added on a monthly basis with a next month issue content continuing a developing story which could lead to a new raid event or dungeon release. It would give the gamers a true comic experience. Also is there any chance that a trivia terminal be added to the hubs to learn trivial hero knowledge with info updated regularly? Would be a great pass time while chilling in hubs. Doomsaw

The Advanced Pack 2 doesn't have any cosmic Marvel Heroes representation. Will the lack of them in the announced 10 give them the edge in being included in the final two spots?
Doctor Doom told me he is a cosmic hero.
The last two spots will probably not be "cosmic" heroes in the strictest definition.

or are you guys waiting for other events to take place in the Marvel Cinematic or Comic Universe first?

The new zone will have a few new items, new bosses to fight (along with the usual assortment of evildoers) and a few new mechanics.
We will eventually retrofit Midtown to use the new, more performant tech, probably next spring.
The Danger Room (formerly internally called Endless Dungeons, which obviously we can't ship with since we aren't D&D), has very early alpha playtests and is on schedule to release around Xmas.

@mimbotem said: Doomsaw, could you give us more spoilers of the new patrol zone. Like, upon release why should we chose the new one over MM? Is the new patrol zone going to have exclusive items or we will just have to complete shared quests there?
Also, any plans of expanding the current MM? I love MM, but it has become old and it should be renewed.
Last question: Any ETA on endless dungeons?
