I wonder if The Hand and Roxxon are more intertwined than we think.

I don't want The Hand to be another Hydra. The MCU stopped having Hydra in everything because it seemed silly. The Hand is not even on that level, just keep them in a small circle. They seem to be involved with too much for my liking already.

I think it would benefit both if they were just mutual groups working together for their own reasons. I got kind of tired of all the Hydra groups that would just connect/pop up out of nowhere. It felt like you were drowning in Hydra.

It's partially why I like that the Netflix series aren't as connected as it keeps that out of it.

I assume there will have to be some involvement with The Hand, IGH, and the people funding the experiments at Seagate.

I'm pretty sure IGH is in charge of the experiments at Seagate. Then the person who was Nobu's assistant in the final episode of Daredevil season 2, I think her name was Tyler, worked at Alexandra's company.

Maybe IGH is just another corporate shell company for The Hand and its interest.

So maybe Reva was working both for IGH and The Hand.

The costume designer for the show spoke about Alexandra and her role. Hiding it behind some spoiler tags because it might give a few more ideas as to who she could be.

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:

Quote:
“I think that she’s clearly a baddie, and she’s the head of an ancient organization which is grounded in the comics. I hope that her wardrobe reflects that kind of ancientness. I hope I haven’t said too much. I hope Marvel doesn’t come after me.”
I know this has been hinted at and assumed by posters but I don't want to spoil the casual forum visitor. Looks like she's the head of the Hand? I assume she's a host of the Beast or similar to how Ken Wind was treated in Elektra: Assassin: A young senator who tries to run for President. He gets caught by the Beast and under its control tries to fulfill the destruction of the Earth, by subjugating different influent figures of the worldwide panorama.

I don't have a problem with the Defenders never crossing over with the movie universe.

The movies are generally globe (dimension) hopping, while the Netflix shows stay within their own NY-based world.

Think about it:

The Avengers are either disbanded or upstate.
Dr. Strange, while in NY, just started and spends time fighting in different dimensions.
Ant-Man is in San Francisco
Guardians of the Galaxy are in space.
Black Panther will be in Wakanda.
Agents of SHIELD are either globe trotting or in DC.
Runaways will be California.
Spider-man would be the closest one and his movie looks to spend time in DC and hanging with the Avengers.

Cloak & Dagger will be New Orleans based.

I don't know where they are setting New Warriors

Pretty much. And its not only a difference in region, but of focus. Most of the other movies and shows are dealing with stuff that is, bluntly, of higher scale than Defenders. The Defenders simply aren't relevant to Avengers business, for example.

The way I look at it is there are police, FBI & Military. Sometimes they "meet", most of the time they exist within their own spheres.

Avengers = Military

SHIELD = FBI

Defenders, Cloak & Dagger, New Warriors = Police

Just because the movie has a scene in DC doesn't mean that Spidey won't be present and active in NYC. Though, Manhattan is a big place with a lot of people. I find it very plausible that they just don't cross paths.

Exactly, how often does the director of the CIA have an adventure with a beat cop and an Army Ranger?

This is how I picture it. Though I would modify it like this:

Spider-man = Police/Firefighter, responding to emergency calls

Defenders = Undercover narcotics, dealing with things in dark corners of the streets, more proactive than reactive.

Cloak and Dagger = Community activist, dealing with a lot of smaller scale problems.

Still I'd love to see some Marvel One-Shots connecting them. Like Maria Hill meeting Luke Cage in jail about potentially joining the Avengers. Or Colson and May posing as clients for Jessica Jones to see if she's enhanced. Danny Rand meeting Pepper Potts at a business summit. Matt Murdock and Peter Parker getting stuck in an elevator. Just fun little shorts that could answer lingering continuity questions.

This I agree with. Little one offs that can be included on DVD/Blu-Rays would definitely enhance the universe as a whole.

Feige implied that they stopped doing one shots because they weren't financially viable. He would of loved to keep doing them. Short fan service episodes are probably hard to justify to the Disney suits though. We are lucky we still get post-credit scenes.

Likewise. That would be a great new use for the One-Shots concept, that would let you do the little character-building scenes without over burdening the actual plots.

Even if they aren't financially viable, were the shorts that expensive to make?

Yep. Sets, wardrobe, lights, cameras, actors, crew, editors, effects. It adds up. The only way you could really justify it is to piggy back on another production. Like film a one shot on the set of Luke Cage season 2.

The only character I'm bummed that won't interact with the Netflix characters is Spider-Man. He seems to be that bridge between street level and Avenger.

This is quite the good analogy, actually.

I'm sure that Marvel is really strapped for cash these days
