The idea of Thor not being worthy to be himself got old decades ago. Every time there is a threat it is Thor who defeats it, not Odin. It is Odin who is unworthy. In the last 40 years, Thor has had his powers taken away from him more times than Odin has done anything useful. In fact the only reason Odin is still alive is because of Thor. This idea should bomb very badly.

Assuming Thor himself doesn't somehow get turned into a woman, my interest in this will be determined largely on who his replacement actually is. If it's Jane Foster, I'm gonna be annoyed because she's pretty much awful outside of Jurgens' comic run. If it's Roz, I'm gonna be annoyed because she's new and it doesn't feel like she's "earned" it. Other than that, I'd probably be cool with it because it sounds like another Eric Masterson situation, and I liked a lot of the Eric Masterson comics. We all know Thor will be a burly dude again by the time Chris Hemsworth is ready for his next movie, so it's not a big deal either way.

You don't have to tell ME twice Sil.
I like the idea of the 10th Realm but does it HAVE to be based off a McFarlane character?

He doesn't get turned. It's been shown he IS still around and has Jarnbjorn

Oh, I assumed that was his younger self or something.

And if it helps, you can always think of Angela as a Neil Gaiman character instead. He's the one who actually holds her copyright and everything.

Yeah that helps alittle lol
Thor From my understanding still has Jarnbjorn after retrieving it from the Apocalypse kids, I'd have to go reread the books

Great minds think alike! You just have to look at my sig line to see how highly I esteem Eric Masterson. He has an important place in Thor's history, and I'm down for some deeper exploration of the Worthiness enchantment..

I'm okay with Eric staying dead, but I really wish Thor would show some surrogate fatherly concern for Eric's kid, who became the new Thunderstrike and then just dropped off the map completely.

Noooooo, she needs to be Ms Marvel. I don't think this garbage gimmick will impact the movies at all though. At least I hope not

I totally agree. I would love for something worthwhile to be done with Kevin Masterson. Every time there's a new book with a team of teenagers, I'm silently hoping that Kevin is involved. As long as he is MIA, he's just wasted potential.

They did that one story where he and some other teen heroes get duped into helping Amadeus Cho. But that was kind of lame.

So I just bought and read the follow up to the Reigning recently, that was some good reading imo.

Dan Jurgens' whole run from Thor vol. 2 is underrated. Those are the comics that made me a Thor fan.

I thought it was some of the best Thor stuff I've ever read (yeah including Simonson IMO).

Yeah, I didn't read any of volume 2 at the time it came out (except for the Oeming issues), and I'd heard that it wasn't a great run. A couple of years ago, though, I bought the whole run and read it straight through. I really enjoyed it! Especially later into the run. Some thought provoking issues are addressed, which I like to see in a Thor comic. The run also has a good balance of classic Thor villains and new characters.

It's a pretty good example of long-form storytelling, too, IIRC. Some stuff is set up early on that doesn't pay off until much later. But at the same time, it never feels "decompressed." Every issue feels complete, even though they are telling a serialized story.
