I mean, you can make Rudd tiny, and it would be fitting.

Perfect, actually. That way we have room for Brie in March.

What if the new Hellboy does well? Does he qualify or is it strictly Marvel vs DC?

Title change means no holds barred
Though, how long does any other superhero movie convo typically last on here?

So I saw Deadpool 2... and I kind of loved it.

I'm not sure it's better than the first. I think the first had a more emotional core, but I think the second one is more ambitious and is a refreshing breath of air. It's not the best superhero movie of the year (that's still Black Panther), but it's the most individual and distinct. It is born from Ryan Reynolds' eccentricities and I loved every minute of its foul-mouthed magic. The post-credits land, but so does its emotionality.

Also for those ready to throw in the towel on the Foxverse, it made, at least to me, a strong case for it to keep going. Felt like a '90s comic book come to life at parts. Cable is awesome, but not enough credit is given to Domino. Easygoing crowdpleaser, this one.

And my boy heat, is the man! He may not be a mutant, but he'll always be X-Force to me! X-Force!!!!

Does it really count as the Fox-verse though? Reynolds has really Marvelized his vision for the X-men, way more than Fox has with their regular X-men movies. The characters in Deadpool have been way more faithful than the ones in Singer's version.

Are you saying Reynolds' take is more faithful than Singer's? In a lot of ways (not all), it is. But the Fox-verse, ironically more than the DCEU given its lip service, seems to be relatively filmmaker driven. You can tell the vast differences between Singer, Vaughn, Mangold, and now Reynolds' influences. Even this one is a bit different from that last because it really has that Leitch aesthetic.

They don't really care about continuity, but they're all playing in the same sandbox. And if you can get things as different as Logan and Deadpool 2, but of the same cloth, yeah, I'm more than happy to have more of that.

P.S. I wouldn't say Deadpool 2 "marvelizes" the brand. It does feel like a '90s comic book in a lot of ways. But in its own twisted, flippant way.

Deadpool 2 was good but I didn't like it quite as much as the first. The last act of DP2 might be better than DP but DP is much stronger for the first half of the film. Bit surprising to me as if an origin and sequel is of the same quality I usually prefer the sequel.

I liked the first half of Deadpool 2 about equal to the first. Leitch's aesthetics were really strong here as DA said and worked very well throughout the entire movie. Especially in Cable's scenes.

The first one came at me like a steam train with how different it was to every other CBM.

Guys...

I was watching How I Met Your Mother on CW18, the episode was titled Noretta. And I saw a Deadpool 2 poster in it. The episode was made in 2011.

I have yet to see it but maybe Deadpool and it's sequel, "popularizes" the X-Men series in a way that Fox hasn't had as much success with even their X-Men movies.

Greatest disappointment of Deadpool 2, I was the only one who laughed at a Liefeld joke. My audience suuuuuucked.

Liefeld joke was so on point

Everything about this movie was on point, even it’s stance on dubstep.

Posted this in the Deadpool 2 forum but: This was way better than the first. Its honestly not even close for me. I cant think of anything that the original did better.

Also I saw it at a small independent theater near my girlfriends apartment in Atlanta and apparently the Cloak and Dagger premiere was held tonight at that same venue. I didnt see any of the cast or anything but there was a little red carpet setup and cameras and a ton of posters everywhere. If I had known about it beforehand I wouod have tried to get tickets.

I enjoyed Deadpool 2 just as much as the first one. I'd rate them as pretty much equal, which is really rare for me.

I guess it could be said that the first one had a better main villain with Francis/Ajax. Even though Cable was a much better character, he was only an antagonist until the third act. The Headmaster and the guy who killed Vanessa were barely in it and Juggernaut and Black Tom Cassidy were used as punchlines.
