GoW as in God of War or Gears? Because I'm talking about Gears. And after playing through that game in less than a day, it was really a waste of my time since the story only had so much replayability. The multiplayer was/is the only reason why I haven't returned it to EB games yet to get more store credit.

I really don't think I could muster the strength to actually try a game that takes less than a day to complete. Unless it's insanely fun and has awesome replayability. Like God of War.

Gears of War was an 8 hour game. My roommate finished it the weekend before finals. How long did you expect Heavenly Sword to be? Ninja Gaiden, one of the longest games of this type, is around 20 hours, so 15 aint bad. I believe they said 15

Wait God of War or Gears of War?

I assumed you were talking about God of War seeing as it's is refered to on short hand as GoW whilst GEars is refered to and GeoW since God of War came first as it better.
God of War only takes a day if you spend that entire day or aren't doing replays.

For instance my initial runthough of GoW II was 18 hours total but the average time is apparently around 10-15.

NG was insanely hard though, so that took even more than 20 hours for me to beat.

I have never referred to Gears of War as GeoW. A waste of a letter when you can just say "GoW"

If the game isn't platformer and traveling between fights is just a matter of cutscenes and Quick-Time Reaction games, plus no additional weapons to search for (or power ups I think), HS could really be a 5 hrs game on regular difficulty

Ninja Theory Responds to Itagaki

Quote:
My response to Mr. Itagaki would be that the intent of the Hero sequences is to empower the player to experience events that would be nearly impossible to play in a natural platforming state… for example, making the player run down ropes, leaping from rope to rope as they’re being cut from underneath you, all while dodging other objects - that would be a frustrating experience to 99 percent of our users if we were to force them to do that manually

Personally, for that sequence at least, I can see how it could be done with traditonal controls. You'd just be confined to the equivalent of 3 lines taht you could jump between whilst having to hold the stick forward to run forward, the jump button would be used to dodge the incoming rope whiplash and when you get to the end you could hit the jump button to jump over.

But that doesn't mean I think the Hearo sequences or wahtver they're called in this game instead of QTE's make the game half assed, you couldn't get the fidelity of that sequence by doing it in gameplay. I'd love to see a game attempt that however to really shut Itagaki up.

i would actually like to the do the rope scene manually, makes it more challenging.

hell there can even be a power up that will allow nariko to run fast enough to be able tofully cross the rope. all based on timing and strategy. i guess i agree with itagki, that does take away the challange of the sequences away.

Well I just deleted the demo. I enjoyed it, but I realize if I'd kept the demo on my PS3 and just kept playing it from now until September it would dull my appreciation for the actual title. Bye bye Heavenly Sword demo!

Did you watch the Anime short? I liked it. Here's some more on it.

Heavenly Sword marketing guy here. Usually I just watch this blog from the sidelines and let our production teams talk (because lets face it, you guys don’t want to hear our marketing mumbo-jumbo) … but our blog team asked me to elaborate on the recent Heavenly Sword videos we just released, so here it is. Hopefully without all the marketing buzz words.

This week’s release of the Heavenly Sword animation prequel and the “Making of” series marks the start of a five-week video campaign that leads into the game’s release. The plan was to provide an exclusive peek to our GAP members on Mondays, then release publicly on Thursdays via the PLAYSTATION Store and on HeavenlySword.com. But this thing called the “World-Wide-Web,” is an amazing animal that doesn’t do too well with keeping things um, secret. So as soon as it hit our “exclusive group,” it basically spread everywhere (not necessarily a bad thing). The good news is, despite the early release, the benefit of downloading the video on your PS3 is that you can watch it in full HD glory on your HD television screen [cue angelic chorus].

As for the videos - the animation prequel gives you a glimpse of the Heavenly Sword pre-history up until the start of the game (admittedly we took a page out of “Clone Wars”, because that series kicked a$$). This “making of” series highlights the team’s efforts to bring you Heavenly Sword, focusing on different elements of production. I know many of you can’t wait to play the game (…something about the demo being too short…), but hopefully these will be enough to keep you waiting until September 12.

i dont know, it seems they focused too much on the technical aspects(motion capture, etc) instead of on awesome gameplay. I'm having second thoughts about this now. from everything I've seen the gameplay looks a bit above average but the scope of it is epic. not only that but they babysit you through almost all the gameplay..what fun is there in that?

How about the rumor of the day?
Play magazine has given HS a 10/10 score.
The rumor of course started in another forum, but if true that's, it'scool with me.

Well I can't speak to if the game ultimately will be too focused on the media side of the experience but here's a new Preview. I think hard mode will help out either way.

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/23361.html

Shane on 1UP has repeatedly said taht Nariko has a terrifying personality, we get to see a bit of it in the preview. Definitely a bit different then what we've seen of her before.
