Aquaman First Look

Some details

From Wan Aquaman in relation to JL

“It’s going to look very different, it will feel very different — aesthetically, tonally, story-wise — it’s my own take,” Wan tells EW. “It’s a much more a traditional action-adventure quest movie.”

Jason on Aquaman the character
“Justice League was only a weekend in Arthur Curry’s life,” Momoa says. “This is a totally different beast. In Aquaman, you see when his parents met and what happened to hem. Then the little boy being raised and finding his powers and going through that and never being accepted on either side. And then becoming this man who puts up all these walls. You just slowly see this man harden up and be completely reluctant wanting to be king and not knowing what to do with these powers he has. I think James Wan just killed it.”

I hope his dialogue consists of more than "My man!" "I dig it!" "Yeah!" in Aquaman, lol.

Eh. Sophie Turner looks good, but I’m not in love with where they’re taking Xavier.

The fight scenes in Smallville were great, Snyder actually had a competent response to the slow-mo criticism.

Further, there is storytelling in the combat, it's not just punching. We see that Faora and the big guy are superior fighters to both the outmatched local military and to Kal-El. The fight is easy to follow. However, Kal-El wins only because he's familiar with his powers. He knows how to use heat vision and he knows how to breathe.

That scene where she's eye-****ing Kal-El is great.

Her evolutionary adaptation line is splendid character work.

I still think the biggest missed opportunity: the opening credits sequence. Instead of the boring random it is, it should have been a stylized portrayal of Danny Rand vs Shao Lao the Undying. Lets you have your cool dragon fight, while also not having to destroy the budget.

She was a pretty good henchwoman, but I think Zod is a better villain.

I've said this for years and I still believe it to be true: Homecoming was able to be cast, shot, and released relatively quickly because Marvel had a contingency plan in place. They had a basic outline of what they'd do with the character if they ever got him back. I'm positive they have one in place for each of their characters, and I'm excited to maybe see how it all potentially comes together in phase 4.
I'd kind of like to sneak into their office and see what their Namor contingency is. "You know how we always give our heroes shirtless scenes, to provide female-oriented fan service? Namor is that, times ten."

*ahem*

New Variety article on JL fallout
http://variety.com/2017/film/news/dc...ue-1202632214/

major points

- Jon Berg is out, and will be moving to another WB division, WB is currently looking for his replacement
- Johns is still in
-No current plans on a separate "DC studios"
-Snyder is not coming back to direct JL 2 like originally planned or any other DC movie.
-They believe Affleck in Reeve's Batman is unlikely

I have so much trust in Aquaman. Wan is super talented, and this just sounds very promising. Well, unless WB goes crazy (again) and dumps all over it. Aquaman made so very little of an impression in JL this is almost like meeting the character for the first time.
