However they do it plot-wise, I feel like the the script needs to prevent SHIELD from having access to Pym's technology. Because otherwise, Ant-Man loses his uniqueness if they could just shrink any random SHIELD agent. This becomes even more ludicrous if SHIELD has been holding on to shrinking technology for 50 years.

It's like how Stark doesn't let SHIELD have his armor technology, so we don't have SHIELD agents flying around in powered armor. Granted, the Cap trailer makes it look like SHIELD may have somehow gotten hold of Stark's replulsor-flight tech, and productionized it into their Hellicarrier fleet.

Lots of criminals get away with crimes. For all I know, Pym might *have* been arrested, but won his day in court. Who knows.

I'm not saying the Selvig scene is definitive one way or another; just that it's vague enough to ensure that we can't actually say whether or not it proves Pym worked for SHIELD at some time in the past, or against them.

As others have stated, I'm personally hoping he's *not* ex-SHIELD, because SHIELD doesn't need to be present in every freakin' MCU story ever made.

What is it up against now? I'm guessing of course this is because BvS has moved out of that summer.

WB's Peter Pan is the other film currently occupying that date. I can't see him staying around.

Some gamesmanship going on here I think. WB scheduled Pan there after moving BvS...and remember WB moved BvS to the same day as an unannounced Marvel movie is scheduled.

Are WB expecting Peter Pan to do well? It's not like he really is franchise material. I thought they just stuck any old thing in BvS's place. It wasn't exactly equal to BvS.

That would also explain why the scene was deleted --- Wright had just pushed Ant-Man to the backburner yet again as Thor was filming.
or S.H.I.E.L.D has no knowledge of Ant-Man but know that Pym was doing some exotic experimentation. even w/ the size-serum out of the picture, Pym would be a natural recruit for an organization like SHIELD. maybe Pym's dealings with other such organizations made him skittish/reluctant to associate with SHIELD. or maybe they tried to co-opt one of his other inventions. he was doing radiation shielding in the comics, afterall. me, i just think it'd be cool if Pym was morally against working for SHIELD or so paranoid that it's not an option. that's the kind of guy i could see orchestrating Scott Lang acquiring his equipment.

on another note, i wonder how much of a techie Scott Lang will be in the movie. it has varied in the adaptations of 'To Steal an Ant-Man.' in the books, he went from electronic repairman to engineering nuclear powered pacemakers and memory reading helmets. and, as of FF #1, he's a nanotech specialist. i just wonder how skilled he will be in the movie. and if it has anything to do with Pym not automatically thwarting his burglary attempt.

That'll teach Warner Brothers for daring to challenge the mighty "Untitled Marvel Movie 2016".

Well, if he doesn't have the SHIELD connections to convince them to give it back voluntarily, that kind of leaves "stealing from a government agency." Which is a crime.

why would you need connections to get your stuff back? did he commit a crime with his invention? did he recieve SHIELD funding to create his invention? the only theft in your scenario is committed by SHIELD.

something i haven't seen anyone mention yet but might actually be a deal breaker is Ant-Man voice. what is he going to sound like? if you look at any spoof of the character, they use that squeaky elf voice. that would kill this movie pretty quick. i wonder how Wright plans to get around it. i hope the answer isn't raspy Batman voice.

I don’t know if Marvel will run away, and I’d argue it depends on what that mysterious Phase 3 Marvel film happens to be. If it’s something original like Doctor Strange, they will probably bolt. If it’s Thor 3, I’d imagine they sweat it out. The irony is that all of this is unnecessary, as the would-be game of king of the mountain is costing Warner Bros. their own most valuable release date. I’m talking about their precious and valuable mid-July slot. If Marvel Studios and other Marvel properties have flourished as summer kick-off films, then Warner Bros. has struck gold over and over again in mid-to-late July. It’s basically the second weekend after the Fourth of July holiday, and it’s been Warner Bros. lucky star for nearly ten years.

Like when he's shrunk? Squawky radio voice. That's a big ass helmet, certainly room to squeeze a radio transmitter or cell phone type device in there somewhere.

No way will they have him shouting in a squeaky hamster voice. Unless they do a short bit for giggles, I dunno. But a transmitter in the helmet is logical and easy peasy.

It's Marvel's way of saying "screw you" to the WB. It was very cheap for the WB to move to the exact day of another genre film. That's pretty much an unwritten studio rule. This single move may get my "anti Ant-Man vibe" in check. I hate what Marvel has done to Hank Pym but I love Marvel having the guts to fight back. The only bad thing is that Hugh Jackman was rumored to be Hook or Blackbeard or something in that Pan film. I love Hugh and would love to see him stay out of the fray.

I hope Marvel gets vindicive and rushes Iron Man 4 out to go head to head with Affleckman in 2016. If the WB doesn't want to be honorable and honor established release dates then make it a bloodbath and split the revenue. The WB has one ace to play. Trump it and keep owning the cinema.

The bit in front of his mouth on the Ant-Man helmet is a microphone so I imagine it will sound just like Rudd and whoever is playing younger Pym's normal voice. I guess they could put a digitized sound effect on it if they want. est

The test footage had Ant-Man doing some Darth Vader style heavy breathing when he got into the lift. I'm not sure if that was down to the physical exertion he did beating up those guys or down to inhaling Pym Particles.

Where'd you hear that? Garrett Hedlund is the frontrunner for Hook, not Jackman.

It's a business bro. Once you let emotions into it, you fail. Marvel/Fox have also creeped into WB territory by releasing July comicbook films in 2011 and 2013. Ultimately, you have to make objective decisions. Here is what WB was looking at in 2016. Apocalypse coming out in May, Spidey in June. That is BIG TIME competition. Think audiences wouldn't have superhero fatigue by July? Not to mention Marvel films in March/April of 2016. WB had to make a power play here and possibly delay X-Men Apocalypse, which is the big animal on the block in 2016 IMO. Keep in mind WB was already muscled out of summer 2014 by Marvel properties hence the delay of Hobbit 3. How long can they sit back and react?

But I love the pressure Disney is applying in 2015. They have a strangle hold on the summer windows now. But I still think FF, Terminator, and Jurassic World could overshadow Ant-Man, especially as its release date creeps ever closer to those other projects. Marvel has played a dangerous game being the bully on the block in recent years.

I don't see it as them being a bully at all. They make superhero movies and that's it. Those movies typically come out in the summer, so it stands to reason that they'd usually be ones to stake out summer dates, and since they have a plan that goes beyond the next movie in the pipeline, they can better predict when their movies will come out.

DC fired the first shot here by tossing out BvsS on a weekend they knew Marvel already had plans for. If Marvel stands their ground, DC will be the one to blame for the fragmented gross. It was kind of a jerk move.

As soon as Bond announced it was opening the same day as Ant-Man it was inevitable Ant-Man would move.

Putting it in the middle of the summer blockbuster season made the most sense. Audiences can get blockbuster fatigue by August so moving it up a little helps with that as well.

When did Bond announce that? I thought they always go for the November release.
