So I just discovered those behind-the-scenes videos that came out in June (must've been overshadowed by the Jim Carrey controversy because I heard nothing about them being released), and it was nice to see them clear up that debate we had a while ago about the timeline: This is indeed set 2 years after the first, and they will address what's been happening in the time gap. They are NOT gonna ignore their ages and pretend like no time has passed. Just as I and most logical people assumed all along.

B-Roll:
http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer...ass-2/b-roll-i http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer...ss-2/b-roll-ii Be warned, I think that first one contains a somewhat significant spoiler for the end of the film (and deviation from the comic). Cast interview:

She was at least 12 by the end of the first one since she'd had a birthday and was entering Dave's school in her last scene. I'm assuming they've fudged the timeline a bit, which they can get away with since they never specifically stated her age in the first film (the closest they got was that "she looks about 11-years-old"), but the point is that there was a time gap, regardless of its size, and that they are definitely acknowledging that it exists and that stuff happened during that time gap, which some people in this thread had previously insisted that they were just going to ignore, and pretend this is all happening right after the end of the last one.

So I was one of the lucky people to live in an area (San Francisco) that was offering the two day early Fan First Screening on August 14 two days before the movie comes out plus a small popcorn, movie poster, and a song download from the album for $25. I bought two for my roommate and me. Now today I see that on Fandango the date of August 14 no longer has the Fan First Screening offered and all of the Fandango pages about the screening have been remove with the exception of this blog post: http://www.fandango.com/movieblog/su...ts-739621.html.
I would be totally bummed if this was canceled not only because I would not be seeing the movie two days early, but it may also be a bad sign for the movie. Of course it could have been the high $25 ticket price, but I did the math and the movie would have been $14.75 for an ETX ticket at Cinemark, $4.00 for small popcorn, and $1.29 for song download. Posters are usually given out free anyways. So basically $5 dollars was the difference and I was willing to pay $5 extra to see the movie 2 days early. Anyways just was curious if anybody knows if it really was canceled or not. On another note I see that the free advanced screening for critics and others who sign up for the movie will be shown on August 7 in Canada and August 13 in US so I am going to try and sign up or win a pass for that. http://advancescreenings.com/movie/kick-ass_2 Last edited by LoserJBo; 08-02-2013 at 11:41 PM. |

I'm still not sold on Wadlow's directorial craft based on the trailers. And the source material is much harder to do something better with this time around. So I'm slightly skeptical at this point. I enjoyed the first one for most part, but also thought it fell apart a bit in the third act.

I'm looking forward to seeing this but my nagging reservations persist, can they pull it off twice? or was the first a one off, as the first had shock value this doesnt have in terms of being a surprise.

I have the same concerns. I love the cast, LR's review of the script last year was quite positive, and I liked the Hit-Girl comics so much more than Kick-Ass 2, so it's encouraging to me that they are drawing from both. But there are still just these nagging doubts (largely concerning Wadlow) that will hopefully be proven to have been all for naught in a couple weeks, but they aren't going away until I see it.
I'm also starting to get the feeling that this could actually do even worse than the 1st one at the box office since we're two weeks out, and I'm seeing no buzz for this anywhere. The people I've talked to about it so far in real-life weren't even aware it was coming out any time soon (never mind this month) until I told them. They were like, "oh yeah, I heard they're making a sequel!" As if it hadn't even gone into production yet, lol.

I'm really excited for it, but even I forgot it was coming out in two weeks, until Millar posted something about it on facebook. D:
This movie will probably (though hopefully not) flop. |

I am interested to see what reviews the movie gets, i'm not expecting the level of reviews for movie 1, but I hope it still gets good ones in general.

I am cautiously hopeful that the screenplay will be good, because Vaughn, at the very least loved it so much he hired Wadlow to direct. So, I have to assume that Vaughn, who is a very savvy and practical writer himself, saw something special in it. And the cast, even Carrey, will be a lot of fun from the trailers.
But I still cannot shake how bland it looks visually. Everything is so brightly lit it could be a sitcom. There is no depth to it visually. Oh well. I did like that bit about Moretz kind of subtly insulting Carrey for trashing the movie. Well done.

Unfortunately, I will say something right now...
Please lower your expectations if they are high expectations.

Can't exactly say, but mixed things were said.
Not saying it's a bad movie...just don't expect something on the Vaughn level.
